Colorado Capital Congress

In a joint venture with the Institute on the Common Good, the Sullivan Chair hosts the Colorado Capital Congress — a citizen led public forum on improving how Colorado businesses obtain money to fund new job creation. Ideas on improving the quality of investment opportunities, reducing regulations and matching investors with businesses, are being developed into action initiatives with volunteer task forces. Citizens of Colorado are invited to engage in this dialogue, vote and participate in positive change. Join the Colorado Capital Congress MeetUp Group.

In general, the CO Capital congress seeks to:

  1. Improve the quality of opportunities to invest in Colorado businesses so as to attract investment from around the world and off the sidelines
  2. Leverage the Internet to more efficiently and effectively facilitate matchmaking between sources of capital and businesses that need it
  3. Remove or reduce existing and outdated legal and regulatory barriers to capital formation

The Colorado Capital Congress represents a unique opportunity to act democratically to identify, develop and implement change to improve our community and our economy. Over 110 volunteers are now working within Task Forces to move ideas into initiatives for action.

Initiatives/ Task Forces

In the Congress forums several initiatives are identitfied and broken down to form task forces having different organizations chairing them. Volunteers are invited to sign up and review the initiatives and work to develop and support action. The aim of these initiatives is to improve access to capital for businesses. They are as follows:

  • Community Investments Funds (Colorado Limited Registration Offerings)
  • Colorado Capital Agents (Issuer Agents)
  • International Funding of Colorado Businesses
  • Colorado Investment and Investor Scoring
  • Incentives for Colorado Businesses
  • Dynamic/Econometric Modeling
  • Alternative Banking
  • Optimizing Specialty Funds
  • L3Cs in Colorado

We invite you to join these groups and not only share your experiences in these areas, gain more information on what they entail but also come up with policies that can be adopted by the relevant authorities in helping streamline the processes. For more information on each initiative please visit: Initiatives_Briefs_06_20_2012[2]

Remember, one can be a member to one or more initiatives. To join please email your details to sullivanchair@regis.edu
