Dear Colleagues

I am currently in my second year as Regis University Provost and I can honestly say it has been among the most rewarding positions of my life.  Regis University is thriving. Our faculty and staff serve our students with exemplary dedication. My goal of increasing Regis University’s visibility as a jewel in the Jesuit crown continues to be realized, advanced by the excellence of faculty, staff and students.

My goals for 2017-2018 are intentionally ambitious as well as achievable, and already this year we are on our way toward realizing many of them.

New Goals for 2017-2018:

  • Build a partnership with the Arvada Center to enhance the offerings in the arts and humanities, specifically in fine arts and dance.
  • Evaluate responses to a Request for Proposal to consolidate multiple sources of health services for employees, students, and the community under a community health system partner.
  • Grow revenues by developing at least one new program proposal in each college and one across the university.
  • Conduct a comprehensive program sustainability assessment to serve as a basis for program investment.
  • Develop faculty capacity to facilitate conversations that improve campus climate through civil discourse and a focus on our Jesuit, Catholic way of proceeding.
  • Identify curricular elements that support and contribute to the university mission.
  • Train search committees in how to successfully recruit diverse candidates; require that a Diversity Council member sit on each faculty search committee.
  • Develop a Center for Student Success that co-locates services appropriately and serves as a consulting resource for students.
  • Enhance systems for improved affiliate faculty engagement.
  • Finalize readiness for the Higher Learning Commission reaffirmation of accreditation in November 2018.
  • I always want to remind people that I have open office hours with refreshments every Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Main Hall Suite #217. Come for a few minutes or for the whole time. Faculty, students, staff and alumnae are welcome. It is a chance to share with me what is on your mind, meet people from around the University, and deepen the community we love so much at Regis.

It is a privilege to be Regis University’s Provost.  I thank our faculty, staff and students for their continued dedication to this great institution.

    Sincerely,

    Janet Houser, Ph.D.
