Understanding the Montgomery GI Bill at Regis
The following are the steps you need to take to claim your Chapter 30 benefits at Regis University.
- First, you must be accepted as a degree seeking student at Regis University
- Next, apply online for the Montgomery GI Bill at www.gibill.va.gov. After you apply you will receive a receive a certificate of eligibility from the VA.
- Send a copy of the certificate of eligibility to the Regis VA student counselor. If you do not have your certificate of eligibility yet, Regis will accept a copy of the online application form and certify you for one term. Regis will, however, need a copy of the certificate of eligibility as soon as it is received from the VA.
- Register for classes.
- The Regis VA student counselor certifies your registration with the VA by an electronically submitted VA form 22-1999.
- You will receive an email of your certification to your regis.edu email account.
- The VA processes the certification.
- All funds go to directly to you. You must verify enrollment every month through the GI Bill website, www.gibill.va.gov. If you do not verify your enrollment, the VA will not pay you. The VA always pays the student one month late so the student will be receiving September’s payment in October and so forth.
- Chapter 30 students must either put their classes in deferment through Webadvisor at webadvisor.regis.edu so their tuition will not be due until 90 days after the tuition due date, or they must pay for their tuition out-of-pocket and get reimbursed from the VA later.
