Directed Studies are courses that allow a student to work directly with an instructor. Please note that not every course is approved for this format, and they are only available in the standard 8-week terms. (Some Teacher Education courses will be the exception. Please see your advisor if you have questions.) It is recommended that you begin the registration process at least three weeks prior to the term start. Step 1: Find a Directed Study course and instructor. Go to WebAdvisor (https://webadvisor.regis.edu) Select “Students” Select “Search for Directed Studies Courses” Select your subject Select the course(s) you are interested in taking as a Directed Study Select an instructor E-mail the instructor and ask if he or she would be available to instruct your course. Make sure to inform the instructor in which 8-week term you would like to take the course. If you are having difficulties finding an e-mail address or receiving a response, please contact Enrollment Services at 1-800-568-8932 If you do not do not see a course or the instructor you need, contact your advisor for options. Step 2: Register for a Directed Study Course. Registration requests need to be submitted by the Wednesday prior to the term start to ensure that you are registered before the end of the Drop/Add period (first week of the term). Log in to WebAdvisor (https://webadvisor.regis.edu) Select “Students” Select “Directed Studies Registration Request” Select your subject Select your course Select your instructor If you have not contacted an instructor, you must go back to Step 1 Enter the term you would like to take the course Select the box at the bottom of the screen to verify that you have been in contact with the requested instructor and that he or she has agreed to work with you. Select Submit *When you have been registered, you will receive an e-mail registration confirmation from Enrollment Services. You can also check on the status of your Directed Study request by checking your schedule or the “Directed Studies Registration Status” in WebAdvisor Please allow 4-5 business days to process. Finding your syllabus/module/learning contract and list of required materials Your instructor will either direct you to where you can obtain a course syllabus/module/learning contract and list of required books or will send this information to you. You should have your syllabus and course materials prior to the term start. How to communicate with your instructor You will work with your instructor to determine the best method of communication and how/when assignments will be submitted. You should expect to communicate with your instructor on a weekly basis. Grades If you have any questions, communicate with your course instructor. Your final grade should be available to view in WebAdvisor no later then 10 days after the term has concluded.
