Sonia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. She has worked closely with the diversity office in various roles prior to working in the department. Her experience in diversity work includes teaching English abroad, attending various diversity conferences, and facilitating diversity trainings and dialogues for faculty, staff and students. Sonia is energetic and passionate about diversity at Regis University and the Regis Mission.

Sandra Mitchell has nearly 20 years experience in Higher Education Administration. Prior to her current appointment as Assistant Vice President for Diversity, she served as Coordinator of Service Learning in the School for Professional Studies at Regis University where she created the first service learning program in SPS and very possibly, the first service learning program anywhere for adult learners.
Her work around diversity and equity ranges from developing diversity initiatives at a small liberal arts college to creating a long-running national conference on race and ethnicity at Iowa State University. She has been active in the communities where she lives including the Sioux City Public School’s Educational Equity Committee and on the board of the Sioux City Art Center. In Denver, she has served on the Board of Mount Saint Vincent’s Children’s Home and the Colorado Network of Women Leaders, and is a current member of the Board of Trustees for Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. Additionally she has spoken in many venues including the University of Northern Ireland at Galway, Colorado Department of Human Services and in numerous venues in Colorado and classes at Regis University.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Education in Higher Education from Drake University.
