Applying for Aid

Applying for financial aid is not as complicated as it may seem. Follow these three simple steps to start the federal financial aid process.

  • Step 1: Apply for admission to a degree or certificate program at Regis University and be accepted as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Step 2: Apply for a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at www.pin.ed.gov. You should receive your PIN by email immediately. Parents of dependent children also need to apply for a PIN.
  • Step 3: Once you have your PIN, complete the FAFSA at FAFSA.ed.gov. Have ready your federal income tax return or an estimate of your income taxes. If an estimate is used, you will need to revise your FAFSA as soon as your federal income tax return is completed. The FAFSA takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Use 001363 as the Regis University FAFSA code.

FEDERAL MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE (MPN)

If this is the first time that you have accepted federal student loans, you must sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at www.studentloans.gov. Use your federal PIN to sign on. After you complete a Master Promissory Note, it will remain active and in effect for 10 years or until you cancel it. You can access information about your federal loans with your PIN at www.nslds.ed.gov.

FEDERAL LOAN COUNSELING

All new borrowers must complete Federal Direct Loan Online Entrance Counseling. To receive your loan funds promptly, complete this required counseling at least two weeks before the beginning of the semester by going to the Federal Direct Loan Website. If you completed Entrance Counseling previously while enrolled at another college, you need to complete it again for enrollment at Regis, School Code 001363.

Apply early! Apply between Jan. 1 and March 1 for maximum consideration for grants and scholarships. However, the deadline for Regis University students to submit the FAFSA and be considered for priority funding is April 15, 2013. Within five days after you submit your FAFSA with School Code 001363, you will receive an email confirming our receipt of your information.

Tips to help you complete the FAFSA

  • In FAFSA Step 6: Regis University's School Code is 001363.
  • We encourage you to complete your federal income tax return and submit your tax return electronically, prior to completing the FAFSA. Allow a two-week timeframe before completing your FAFSA online so that you can authorize the IRS data retrieval. If necessary, you can estimate your income in order to meet the April 15, 2013 deadline. If you estimate your income, you will need to file a FAFSA correction to authorize the IRS data retrieval once you complete your income tax return.
  • A “hard copy” FAFSA is available in a PDF version that can be completed, printed and mailed for processing. Students can access the PDF by visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov/options.htm.
  • Check the FAFSA for accuracy. Incorrect information causes delays.
  • Do not send correspondence regarding extenuating circumstances with your FAFSA. Instead, send it to Enrollment Services, Regis University, 3333 Regis Blvd A-8, Denver, CO 80221.

Additional documents may be requested in order to complete your financial aid application. The federal government may select your application for the verification process, or may request that we collect additional documentation of your eligibility. You will be sent an email if additional documents are needed. You should provide these documents within three weeks of the request but no later than July 1. Financial aid funds may not be available after July 1. After your financial aid application is complete, you will receive an email stating that your financial aid award letter is available on WebAdvisor. This email will be sent to your regis.edu email account.

Please Note:

  • If you receive funding from other sources, such as outside scholarships or employee tuition reimbursement programs, notify us in writing as to the source and amount you receive per semester by completing the Outside Resources Report. Complete this form and submit it online. Your receipt of other resources may result in a revised award letter and you may be required to return financial aid funds.
  • If you are selected for verification, we will ask you for a copy of your Federal Tax Return Transcript and an Institutional Verification Form (IVF).
  • Colorado residents may need to complete and return the Colorado Residency Form.
