Turn Your Experience Into Credit

It takes less time to earn your college degree than you think. A member of the active armed services may be granted academic credit for:

  • Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) training
  • Military training based on ACE guidelines
  • Work experience
  • Educational experience from SMART, AARTS, and CCAF
  • Credit awarded for CLEP exam
  • Credit awarded for DSST exam
  • Previous College Coursework

Previously earned credits will not expire at Regis University. To find out more, contact a Regis Enrollment Counselor at 1.800.944.7667 or at info@regis.edu.

Resources for Earning Credit

Exams

CLEP and DSST Exam credits can help you save time, save money, and satisfy proficiency requirements. There is no limit on the number of credits a student may earn via testing; however, at least 30 credits must be earned through Regis in order to graduate.

The College-Level Examination Program® or CLEP

The CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. Over 2,900 colleges grant credit and/or advanced standing for CLEP exams, and each of them sets its own CLEP policy. These multiple-choice tests are administered by computer.

The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) Program

A nationally recognized testing program that provides students the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. The program consists of exams in 47 undergraduate college courses. The exams are paper and pencil based but will be moving to computer-based in the near future.

Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio

You may earn up to 45 credit hours (the equivalent of 15 college courses) through the Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio program. Portfolio specialists will guide and assist you through the process of matching your learning experiences to college course descriptions. Students have earned Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio credit in a wide range academic disciplines, including business, communication, computer science, education, arts, and social sciences.

Graduate Resources for Earning Credit

For Master’s degrees, six hours of graduate-level credit are transferable from a regionally accredited institution into any of the Regis University degree programs.
