How We Keep Students Safe
In addition to providing 24/7 campus monitoring by our Office of Campus Safety, Regis University takes the following measures to keep our students and their belongings as safe as possible.
Secure Access with Individual Swipe Cards
Each student has an individual swipe card they use to gain access only to the residence hall and student room in which they live. Residence halls are locked 24 hours per day, and doors automatically lock when they are shut. The Office of Residence Life uses the swipe-card system to track when and who is in and out of a student's room.
24/7 Residence Hall Monitoring
Each residence hall has a professional staff member on duty 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year, and every day there are Resident Assistants (1 in each wing) that are on duty from 6pm until 8am the next morning every day. Desk Assistants monitor the front reception desk of the residence halls.
Fire Safety
Periodic fire drills are conducted for the protection of students living in the residence halls. In addition, formal Health and Safety Inspections are conducted every semester by members of the Residence Life Staff and the Department of Physical Plant. Residence hall fire safety equipment is periodically inspected by Physical Plant. Students are asked not to bring halogen lamps to campus, hang items from their ceilings and no candles or incense are allowed in the halls.
Safety at Night
Campus Safety officers regularly patrol campus grounds 24 hours a day. Emergency stations are located throughout campus and are connected directly to officer phones and radios. Campus Safety officers also provide on-campus escort service for students to buildings on campus if, for whatever reason, the student does not feel safe walking alone.
