The mission of the 32nd Avenue Jubilee Center is to offer emergency, supportive and educational resources that address the basic human needs of the Northwest Denver Community. The Center offers an after-school mentoring program for at risk elementary and middle school students, a summer educational enrichment camp (SEEK) for elementary and middle school students, an emergency assistance and referral program, and a Community Health Program.

The Bridger After-School Program operates Monday – Wednesday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. and offers homework assistance and one-on-one mentoring. Volunteers are needed to provide assistance with reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, as well as assistance with special school projects such as art and science fair projects. Help facilitate the educational success of elementary and middle school students, many of whom face challenges as first generation immigrants and whose primary language is Spanish. The Community Healthcare Program works with local health agencies to provide basic health screening and educational services. Volunteers can help in screening and assessing client health needs, providing health related information and referral services, or doing community outreach. Volunteers are needed to assist with blood pressure testing on Thursday of each week.

Emergency Outreach - provides emergency rental and utility assistance, transportation vouchers for medical and employment appointments, prescription medication assistance, enrollment for the Bienvenidos Food Bank, and emergency food and hygiene products. Academia Sandoval is a Dual Language Montessori School and aims to have all of their students become bilingual/biliterate by the end of sixth grade. Preschool classrooms (3, 4, and 5 year olds) are two-language environments and lower elementary classrooms (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades) are single-language environments, where two classrooms team together to meet the needs of two language groups – one environment is English and one environment is Spanish.

Volunteers (parents, community, university students/interns) at Academia Sandoval are an integral part of the work we do with children and families. Volunteers work with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms with reading and writing skills. An assistant to the coordinator in preparing materials for the classroom is also needed. While all volunteers are welcome, a specific need for bilingual individuals and native Spanish speakers exists. Classroom opportunities are available Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. and the assistant to the coordinator opportunity is available from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. After-school assistance is also needed. The Annunciation School Tutoring Project provides a "working with kids" service opportunity that seeks individuals to provide tutoring and mentoring to students at one of Denver's oldest schools. Many of these students face economic and family issues that compete with academic demands. These students benefit from the consistent attention and example that dedicated college students provide. Tutors are needed in elementary classrooms. Because Fr. Woody spent the first fourteen years of his priesthood at this school, it is a special project. The project runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 pm-5:15 pm. Weekly participation is absolutely required, as children depend on "their" Regis student showing up each Monday or Wednesday for them. B & G is a private sub-contractor of Regis that handles all custodial work in Regis buildings. Many of the employees are from Mexico or El Salvador and would like to learn to speak English. Volunteers are needed to assist as tutors and conversation partners for the Regis English as a Second Language (ESL) Program for B & G staff. Volunteers are needed to work with B & G staff for one-on-one tutorial sessions on the Regis campus. Volunteers should be able to commit from 1-3 hours per week and need to make a three month commitment to working with a custodian. There are also opportunities to deepen relationships amongst various departments on the Regis campus and B & G custodians, and to complete other fun and challenging duties. The Bridge Project provides educational opportunities for children living in Denver’s public housing neighborhoods so they graduate from high school and attend college or learn a trade.

The On-Site Mentor/ Tutor volunteer role is the most valued one at The Bridge Project. After attending an overview presentation/ orientation and a tutor training session, you will be matched with a child for the rest of the school year, spending one hour a week together at our location. On-site Mentors/Tutors generally choose a day and time that works best for their schedule. The programs take place Monday - Thursday from 4 – 8pm.

The Broadway Assistance Center has been serving Denver's homeless and low-income families since 1975. The food bank needs volunteers Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the soup kitchen operates on Thursday and utilizes volunteers from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. Volunteers should commit to a 3-hour shift. There is also an ongoing need for blankets, gloves, toiletries, socks, t-shirts, men's jean and underwear and backpacks as well as non-perishable food. Crisis Hotline Training:

Would you like to support the safety and self-determination of survivors of violence? Too often LGBTQ survivors, do not have access to culturally competent support and resources they need to heal from violence. Our dedicated team of hotline advocates works hard to ensure each person, regardless of identity or experience, is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

CAVP's Advocacy Program is committed to honoring self-determination, building the safety and power of survivors, supporting healing, and exploring responses to violence outside of existing criminal legal systems. The Hotline training will build on the "CAVP Fundamentals" by providing participants with knowledge and skills needed to support survivors of violence and other community members that contact us through our 24 hour statewide hotline. This mission of Colorado Community Hospice and Bridgepoint Supportive Care is to provide quality care to hospice patients. Volunteers are needed to serve as companions for these patients in Hospice. Students are asked to visit their patient at least once a week. Patients are either at their own homes or health care facilities in the Denver area. Applicants are required to undergo a background check and a drug screening (the drug test will be performed at a different site which students will be given information on location and times)and a TB test (done during orientation). There is a 12 hour orientation where students will learn about the death and dying process, grief and bereavement, the hospice concepts and history, and the interdisciplinary team of which the Volunteer role is a vital part. Have you ever wanted to help high school students while assisting in solving the dropout crisis in Colorado at the same time?

Please volunteer to tutor because of students like Luis. Luis was a local high student who was 18 years old and had very few credits and limited options. He was not going to graduate on time. He was referred to Robert Garcia of Colorado Youth for a Change. Robert help Luis find a school that best fit his needs (a competency based program) and provided case management services to him throughout the year. Luis recently graduated from this Denver Public Schools program with his high school diploma.

Even though Luis’ story ended up with a happy ending, CYC’s goal is to stop students from getting this far behind. CYC has intervention programs to help ninth grade students who are failing one to two classes to pass on to the 10th grade on time by providing case management services and establishing volunteer tutoring programs within the schools that CYC works in.

Please help Colorado Youth for a Change solve this problem by empowering youth (ages 14-18) through tutoring in core subjects and life skills. Volunteers are needed daily from 7:30am-4:30pm in public high schools throughout the Denver Metro area. Volunteers commit to one hour per week.

EarthLinks provides a work program for people who are homeless and low income to learn skills and create earth-friendly products that sustain the people and the planet. Earthlinks has a workshop where individuals get paid by the hour to make Earth-friendly products. The people, creatures, and plants all form community through gardening, beekeeping, worm-composting, and reaching out to one another. This is our understanding and practice of sustainability. The mission of the Adams 50 EEA program is to develop and maintain school district and community partnerships to provide homeless families and unaccompanied youth with educational and social support advocacy. The project works to increase student access to quality academic programs, build family resource frameworks for professional communities and staff, and provide professional development trainings on Title X provisions under the NCLB and legislation under the McKinney Vento-Act of 1987.

EEA needs individuals or groups of students to participate with a community storybook writing and assembly project using technology, photography, and, or art work. The authored books will be posted to an electronic library that is accessed by students and teachers district-wide. Bilingual and monolingual volunteers are both encouraged to volunteer! This work will primarily take place during weekdays, Monday through Friday, and is ongoing, so a student(s) can be trained and oriented throughout the school year.

Moreover, there is a need for student led organizations to raise funds to support the local printing of storybooks; conduct supply drives to support the development of family and student hygienic kits, and also have food drives for the a Totes of Hope Food and Book Back Pack Program.

The English as a Second Language program at Emily Griffith Technical College serves immigrants and refugees from around the world. Volunteers are needed as in-class tutors, conversation group leaders, and in-home tutors. A two-hour a week/four-month commitment is mandatory for in-home tutors and no less than a two-hour a week/three month commitment for in-class and conversation tutors. In-home tutoring is arranged at a time that is convenient for both the tutor and the student. This day shelter for the homeless embodies the spirit of Father Woody in its generous, compassionate care of the poor. Volunteers serve breakfast and lunch to the hungry and provide clothing and other assistance to those in need. In addition, haircuts, laundry service, bus tokens, and other necessities are also provided. Created by a Regis alum, the Haven of Hope is dedicated to sustaining the ministry of service to those often neglected by society. Because the facility bears Father Woody's name, this service project requires his particular style of giving: generous, kind, and compassionate. Florence Crittenton Services is a Denver, CO-based nonprofit agency that helps teen parents be productive members of the community by offering a holistic range of services to the entire teen family. It provides education and parenting training for pregnant and parenting teen mothers at the Florence Crittenton School, early childhood education for their babies at our Early Learning Center, and counseling and parenting support for teen fathers and other members of the family through the Family Engagement Center.

We're a city with a large population of at-risk youth and every hour of assistance we provide through our high school job training initiatives helps lower that overall risk. We help students to believe in themselves, their potential and discover career paths that they can love and embrace. Hope requires education - Goodwill's youth job training works to do that each and every day. We need volunteers to serve as Mock Interviewers and College Panelists. Help students gain the confidence they need, along with valuable interviewing skills that will prepare them for post-secondary interviews for college, scholarships, and actual jobs. Tell them what it's like to be a college students and how they can do it too. You'll do this in a group setting with other college students and professionals and can choose any one of our 28 area high schools. Just a 5 minute drive from campus! A non-profit that provides shelter, food, and comprehensive assistance to families with children experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Growing Home operates a shelter program, a Children's Program (after school tutoring), a Homeless Prevention Program (referrals, rent/mortgage assistance), an Affordable Housing Project, and offers emergency services (food, diapers, etc.). No religious activities are conducted.

Volunteers must complete an interview and one hour of training prior to service. Volunteer opportunities for students in the college include: tutoring and mentoring school aged children from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and being an assistant chaperone for Saturday field trips for children. Food distribution in the food bank from 10:00-12:00 pm seven days a week, as well as sorting and labeling donations for the food bank in the afternoons. We are also always in need of volunteers to help answer calls for assistance in the afternoons, directly assisting families in crisis. Volunteer opportunities in CPS include: Public Relations and Communications (helping with the annual report and newsletter), IT/Computer science (reviewing and making recommendations to the website, researching best practices for agency programs, and helping with database repairs and upkeep).

Volunteers are also needed for administrative tasks, cleaning and handy work, weeding, watering, and planting in a garden plot, graphic design and photography, and sorting and distribution of food, diapers, and hygiene products. Growing Home is open seven days a week, and opportunities for service and advocacy are available every day. Food, baby items (diapers, wipes, formula, etc.), hygiene items (razors, shampoo, deodorant, etc.), and cleaning supplies are always needed. We are a family of nonprofit programs joined by a singular mission to provide seniors and other frail individuals with the services they need to live independently.
PACE is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, an innovative Medicare program for older adults and those over 55 living with disabilities. The goal of PACE is to help these individuals remain living as independently as possible in their own homes and communities. PACE programs provide coordinated personal and skilled care in the home, as well as socialization, meals and recreation in the Day Centers.
We have four Day Centers in the Denver metro area (Denver, Thornton, Lakewood, Aurora) which operate from 9am-3pm, Monday through Friday. We also have InnovAge Johnson Adult Day Program (IJADP). Located in Englewood, IJADP is Colorado's oldest and one of the most successful adult day care programs for people with memory loss or physical impairment.

An afterschool program Monday through Friday out of the school building. We provide four solid days of programming from Monday to Thursday to youth ages 11-14. Our clubs cater to the STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and math) of academic enrichment. On Fridays, we have a more relaxed and safe environment for the students without any concrete clubs. Most of our Friday afternoons in the Spring semester are open at the moment. My hope is that a group of your students are interested in conducting a project on one or more afternoons. It could be a one-time event or a recurring one (once a month, twice a month, etc.). The Regis students would have complete liberty at choosing an academically enriching activity to facilitate. Mount St. Vincent Home serves abused/neglected/mentally ill children by strengthening their ability to socially and emotionally participate in the community. Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives seeks to eliminate gang violence and criminal activity in the metropolitan Denver area by offering positive alternatives to active and potential gang members. Volunteers are needed to work with at-risk K-8 students in an after-school tutoring and mentoring program. The program runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday – Thursday. Volunteers are needed to help with snacks, homework, and recreation. Volunteers are also welcome to participate in home visits, with an opportunity to gain a more holistic look into families and the link between challenges in school and at home. St. Francis Center provides a safe place for people who are homeless to meet their basic needs and receive assistance to transition out of homelessness. Between 400-700 people, primarily single men, visit the shelter daily. SFC needs volunteers for at least a 10 week commitment, 2-3 hours per week, Monday -Friday 6:30am - 6pm, Sat-Sun 6:30 am to 1:30 pm. There are a variety of ways volunteers can help: data entry, updating the website, creating newsletter, and providing direct services to guests of the shelter (e.g. information & referral; distributing mail, storage, clothing & toiletries; monitoring men's showers; assistance w/applications & resume writing). The St. Rose of Lima Tutoring Project provides a "working with kids" service opportunity that seeks individuals to provide tutoring and mentoring to students at one of Denver's oldest schools. Many of these students face economic and family issues that compete with academic demands. These students benefit from the consistent attention and example that dedicated college students provide. Tutors are needed in an elementary study hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm. Students who sign up to work at St. Catherines will assist classroom teachers in their care of elementary students. Consistent participation is required so that children at Guardian Angels are not disappointed or disheartened. Regis students will be able to apply what they have learned (or are learning) in their Spanish classes. St.Catherine's expects students to be there Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm. The Samaritan House provides food, housing, and social services to homeless men, women, and children. Volunteers are needed to work with children, serve meals, teach classes, etc. Students may come for a one time volunteer opportunity with no requirements, but volunteers wanting to work more than once MUST commit for a minimum of three months. These routine volunteers MUST complete the needed paperwork; attend a volunteer orientation; take the “Called to Protect” class; and be tested for TB. This routine volunteer position is usually no more than a few hours per week for the required three months and all of the required paperwork typically takes one month to process. MISSION: The Volunteers of America Colorado Branch seeks to identify and serve the basic needs of the most vulnerable individuals and families in the community.

Meals on Wheels is in need of volunteers to deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors Monday through Saturday between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM in Denver, Jefferson, and Arapahoe Counties. It is a great way to get involved in your community! Delivering in groups with friends or family members is highly encouraged.

BACKGROUND CHECKS OR CLEARANCE: We work with a fragile population so each volunteer must be over 18 or accompanied by someone over 18. Anyone over 18 must have a background check, including a driver's license check.

UNPAID ASSOCIATED COSTS: The background check is $20.00 for each person over 18 and driving/delivering. Pat is willing to work with students who cannot afford this cost

Warren Village exists so that low-income, single parent families achieve sustainable personal and economic self-sufficiency through housing, childcare and family support services. Warren Village is seeking an administrative assistant who offers support to Housing Department staff. The volunteer position greets all visitors to 1323 Gilpin Street including potential residents who are applying for housing. The volunteer assists with the application process including the showing of a 10 minute orientation video, reviewing the housing application and making copies of applicants/child’s documents. Other duties include answering phones, checking voice messages, data entry, light filing, enforcing building visitor/security policy and assisting residents. The Administrative Assistant will also seek housing alternatives for prospective applicants as well as those not fully qualified for the Warren Village program. The volunteer will also post notices, schedule assessments for approved applicants, and reconfirm appointments.
