Kathryn Winograd is the author of Phantom Canyon: Essays of Reclamation A finalist in the ForeWord Reviews 2014 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards, Air Into Breath, winner of the Colorado Book Award in Poetry, and Stepping Sideways into Poetry, Scholastic’s teaching resource book on poetry. Winograd has been the recipient of a Colorado Artist Fellowship in Poetry, a Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute Associateship, and a Colorado Endowment for The Humanities Grant. Her poetry and essays have been published in many journals, including Fourth Genre, Hotel Amerika, River Teeth, TriQuarterly, Denver Quarterly, i, and The New Yorker. Her nonfiction work has been noted in Best American Essays and her poetry nominated for three Pushcart Prizes, receiving a Special Mention in Pushcart Prize XXXVIII. She’s recently been chosen by AWP as its October Member in the Spotlight.
Winograd received her Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Denver, and a MFA. from the University of Iowa. She is a full-time faculty member for Arapahoe Community College where she directs the Writers Studio, a literary organization for community and students. She has taught poetry and nonfiction at Ashland University’s low-residency MFA program in Poetry and Creative Nonfiction.
