    • Regis University is inspired by the particular vision of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), which poses the challenge to think critically, engage in personal reflection and serve those in need.

About the OCPD

OCPD offers a safe and accepting environment to effectively develop awareness and strategies to handle crisis situations and persisting problems and to grow in self knowledge and understanding. A professional staff of licensed and qualified psychologists and counselors provide individual and group services which include short-term counseling, long-term counseling (no session limits), referral to consulting psychiatrist where appropriate, and assessment of more severe psychological concerns. Our consulting psychiatrist, Dr. Kevin Cowperthewaite, is available on campus once per week to evaluate and provide short-term treatment to the OCPD clients. Services are free to Regis College students, Master's of Biomedical Sciences students, Doctoral Physical Therapy students, Doctoral Pharmacy Students, as well as Traditional and Accelerated Nursing students.

At the Office of Counseling and Personal Development, the term "diversity" affirms our faith-inspired commitment to build an inclusive community that values the dignity and contributions of all our members. In this community, all human differences thrive in a learning environment characterized by the Jesuit traditions of mutual respect and the pursuit of justice. Age, gender, race/ethnicity, class, disability, sexual orientation, religion and other human differences contribute to the richness and vitality of our living community.

Students in the College for Professional Studies have access to cost-free counseling through CPS Counseling Services at the Interlocken/Broomfield campus or CORE Counseling Services for students at the Colorado Springs campus. In addition, we have provided a list of community based Low-Cost/Sliding Fee Scale Counseling Resources.

For those students involved with Regis University's Distance Learning/On-Line programming, we have comprised a list of Mental Health Resources.

In order to protect the student's rights of privacy, all information disclosed in counseling is considered confidential and can ONLY be released to another person with the written consent of the student. In circumstances where imminent danger is present (i.e. client is a danger to self or others or is gravely impaired), confidentiality is waived.

The Office of Counseling and Personal Development provides educational groups and presentations designed to promote skill development in the areas of communication skills, dating and relationship issues, adjustment to college life, assertiveness training, and other relevant topics upon request.

For additional support within the community, 24-Hour Resources/Crisis Information provides information on counseling resources, emergency telephone numbers and crisis intervention resources.
