Building Community in the Suites: West Hall at a Glance

West Hall has a front desk that is staffed throughout the day, as well as Resident Assistants and Peer Ministers who serve the students in the building. West Hall is a 3-story residence hall with close access to the University bookstore, the Main Café, the St. John Francis Regis Chapel, and Main Hall.

West Hall residents enjoy an environment that includes a Living Learning Community, so those residents may be particularly interested and engaged in the arts scene.  The most notable features of West Hall include its comfortable suite-style living that allows four residents to share a private bathroom and shower that conjoins their two rooms.  The other unique feature for West Hall is the kitchen facility available to residents’ 24-hours a day.  The hall is noticeably bright and fresh, with and spacious lounges that are furnished with tables, couches, televisions, and kitchenettes.   West Hall residents connect with their three fellow suitemates, as well as with their wings and overall buildings.  WestHall is co-ed by suite, and students are living amongst those who may be different years in school.  West Hall has dynamic programming to serve the needs of all of its residents, despite it being their first, second, or third year living in upperclass housing.

West Hall residents enjoy an environment that includes a Living Learning Community (LLC).  This community comprises an average of 20 members is considered co-ed, as LLC residents may reside in either men’s or women’s suites, while still being members of the wing’s community.  While communities are subject to relocation due to housing numbers, the one community currently housed in West Hall is the Arts and Pop Culture LLC.

ARTS & POP CULTURE

This community is designed for those who have a passion for the visual and/or performing arts. Students living on this floor can expect to attend local art shows, museums, concerts, theatrical productions, and be a part of the latest in pop culture.

The West Hall staff includes six Resident Assistants, one Peer Minister, several Desk Assistants, and an Assistant Resident Life Coordinator. Additionally, there is one Residence Life Coordinator, a full-time professional staff member who lives and works in West Hall.  The residence hall staff works together to promote educational, social, and cultural development of Regis students. All staff members are trained in referring residents to the appropriate resources on campus, proving to be a great ongoing resource for all residents.  The staff also acts as role models to promote campus involvement, resident hall community, and faith development.

Sarah Martin
Residence Life Coordinator (RLC)

Rooms in West Hall are 11’10x 21’7.  While furniture is originally set with desks, beds, and chests of drawers on resident’s respective sides of the room, many roommates choose to customize how their room looks by shifting the height of their beds and rearranging the furniture.  To view an interactive map of a West Hall student room, click on  the link below.
