Regis University is an Inclusive Community

University Ministry does not just serve Catholic students, but students from all faith traditions. We offer several events and programs that we hope will help support you in the living of your faith. Some serve  varying Christian denominations, and some are “interfaith”, meaning open and inclusive of all the world religions.

Did you know that that there is a space on campus specifically designed for students of any faith to gather and pray? It is called the Newland Prayer Room, and it is inside the St. John Francis Regis Chapel.  As you enter the chapel, walk to your left, and you will see a little room with a glass door to the left of the elevator.  Though it is sometimes uses for events and gatherings, if there’s nobody there, please feel free to come in and use that space for your own prayer.

Here are some ongoing programs we offer to serve you:

  • Common
    Ground Interfaith
    Prayer Service
  • Interfaith
    Retreat
  • Wednesday
    Night Worship
  • CURA
  • Local Places
    of Worship

On Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. members of the Regis University Community gather in the Newland Prayer room in St. John Francis Regis Chapel for half an hour of an interfaith prayer with readings and quiet reflection. Everyone is welcome.

No interfaith prayer during college holiday or summer breaks. For more information, contact Ken Phillips, Assistant to the Vice President for University Art, at 303.458.4059.

Diversity has become a rather popular word in today's society, so popular that competing definitions have resulted in its relative obscurity. But as people of faith, what makes us different? Let's face it: we're not all Catholic, we don't worship in the same way, and our spiritual paths lead in a multitude of directions. We shouldn't feign similarity, but instead share in our differences. Come celebrate the richness of diversity in the Regis undergraduate student body and deepen your commitment to our vibrant, interfaith community.

This retreat is held every other academic year. Stay tuned for more information for the 2013-2014 academic year, or contact University Ministry  or 303.458.4153 for more information.

Every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. (while Regis College is in session), students gather in the side chapel to pray together.   The prayer form varies, but it is always a great study break and a chance to enjoy some beautiful student-led prayer and some great fellowship.  Music is live and student-led, and there is something for everyone!  Some prayer forms that are part of our regular rotation:

Caffeinated Christ:  Live, contemporary Praise & Worship music, scripture, a reflection by a student and GREAT caffeine and fellowship afterwards.

Taizé Prayer:  A quiet, reflective and meditative prayer with a healthy dose of silence.  Music is repetitive and often in different languages.  Definitely worth checking out!

Prayer Without Borders:  A chance to explore faith and spirituality from a variety of perspectives.  This monthly interfaith prayer can help participants to see how much the religions of the world share in common.

What is CURA? "Cura" is derived from the Latin phrase cura personalis, the Ignatian concept of "care of the whole person." CURA participants gather with other students to engage in conversation about faith and spirituality and what it means to live them out. CURA members participate in social as well as service activities, and explore different ways of praying. All students with a desire to learn more about their Christian faith, build lasting bonds of friendship, and reflect on their lives are welcome and encouraged to come experience what CURA is all about.  To learn more or to join, stop by University Ministry, or click here to complete an Interest Form.
