About Rueckert-Hartman College

The Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions (RHCHP) comprises three schools: Nursing, Pharmacy and Physical Therapy; and two divisions: Counseling and Family Therapy and Health Services Education. Our innovative and dynamic degree and certificate programs are designed to prepare you for a variety of careers in the health professions with cutting-edge knowledge essential in today's ever-changing health care environments. Within the Jesuit Catholic tradition of Regis University, the RHCHP is an interprofessional college embracing the following mission and values:

U.S. News & World Report ranked Regis University's School of Physical Therapy in the top 25 Best Physical Therapy Programs!

The DPT Program received full 10-year reaccreditation through 2031 by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Dr. Amanda Hine (HSE) has been invited to serve on the 2021-2022 Clinical Ethics Consultation Affairs (CECA) Committee of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH). The committee is composed of seasoned healthcare ethics consultants (HCECs) and is charged with developing and disseminating educational materials for HCECs and ethics committees. This is a one-year appointment and is quite competitive and at the national level.

Dr. Allana Sucher (SOP) has received a commendation from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) for her work toward publication of an important home-study series for clinical pharmacists with the Pharmacotherapy Self-Assessment Program (PSAP).

The Service Learning team has received a $20,000 grant from the Daniels Fund. The Daniels Fund focuses on supporting highly effective and ethical nonprofit organizations that achieve significant results. The grant will be used for direct services to low-income community members.

Drs. Emily Wang and Sherry Fuller (LHSON) have been selected as Nightingale Regional Luminaries! Emily was nominated for her work with National Taiwan University and Sherry for her work on our nursing skills lab. Both will move on to the state Nightingale competition. These awards are Colorado’s highest nursing honor.

NNP student Catherine Baessler was named as a Luminary for her work with Dr. Carol Wallman on the National Association of Neonatal Nurses’ (NANN) position statement on marijuana and breastfeeding. Regis was well represented at the regional awards.

This year, five RHCHP students were awarded HealthONE scholarships as part of the Regis/HealthONE Health Careers Collaborative.

The Loretto Heights School of Nursing, in collaboration with the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence, received a grant for “A Rural Colorado Collaborative to Expand and Integrate Behavioral Healthcare,” approved by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and funded for $499,228 for Year 1 with recommended funding to continue for two additional years for implementation at the three (3) APRN-led clinics in rural Colorado.

Regis University’s Nurse Practitioner Program was named one of the 50 best by Intelligent.com, a resource for online degree rankings and higher education planning. The ranking system considers factors such as curriculum quality, student engagement, and potential return on investment.

Nursing School Hub ranked our MS in Nursing Leadership #3 out of 25 programs.

Regis University’s Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program was ranked #2 in the nation, for the third year in a row, by RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization. The ranking was awarded based on factors including acceptance rate, online course offerings, and tuition adjusted for cost of living. Learn more about the methodology used.

Dr. Tristen Amador will join the Front Range Community College Business Programs Advisory Board. Tristen’s membership on this Advisory Board is part of a strategic initiative by the University and RHCHP to enhance partnership opportunities with community colleges across Metro Denver and beyond.

Due to the efforts of Dr. Lindsay Edwards (DCFT), Regis University was awarded CARES ACT funding from the City of Thornton totaling $166,270.00 for the purpose of enhancing and providing tele-mental health service delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds supported The Center for Counseling and Family Therapy in providing teletherapy to residents of Thornton who otherwise would be denied mental health services during the pandemic.

Dr. Heidi Eigsti was appointed by Governor Polis to serve on the Colorado Interagency Coordinating Council.

RHCHP was proud to have three honorary members inducted into The Alpha Sigma Nu honor society: Dr. Phyllis Graham-Dickerson, LHSON Assistant Dean and Professor, Dr. Alice Davis, SOPT associate professor, and Dr. Robert Haight, former SOP Interim Assistant Dean and Associate Professor.

Dr. Amanda Hine was invited to join the Donor Alliance® Ethics Committee. Donor Alliance® is the federally-designated, non-profit organ procurement organization and an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited tissue bank serving Colorado and most of Wyoming. Donor Alliance’s mission is to save lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

Dr. Stephanie James received a grant from the InterFaith Youth Corp for $7500. She trained pharmacy students to be vaccine ambassadors who worked with high school groups to promote health literacy and vaccine education. Students received a $1500 stipend.

Dr. Stephanie James was elected to the Immunize Colorado Board of Directors. Immunize Colorado is dedicated to keeping Colorado communities healthy by building awareness for vaccines, educating health care providers, and advocating for policies that protect children with the goal of increasing childhood vaccination rates.

Dr. William McGehee, associate professor in the School of Physical Therapy, was elected as Speaker of the House of Delegates for the American Physical Therapy Association.

Dr. Mark Reinking, Dean of the School of Physical Therapy, was elected president of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy in October 2020.

Dr. Maria Milagros Kneusel Rivera, a Regis community health nursing faculty with a Centura Health clinical practice, was recognized for her work making sure that the community’s questions are answered in both English and Spanish. Kneusel was recently highlighted by 9NEWS.

Dr. Maria Milagros Kneusel Rivera (LHSON) was honored in June 2021 by her colleagues in the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), who named her #NAHNSTRONG.

Dr. Samit Shah, Dean of the School of Pharmacy, was unanimously voted onto the Board of Directors for La Clínica Tepeyac. His expertise in pharmacy and business will be a great addition to the board, as plans to build a new clinic and pharmacy move forward.

Dr. Joanna Stratton’s article “Mental Health Needs Surge During Pandemic” was published in The Denver Post’s YourHub section. Luis Alvarez (DCFT) was interviewed in the article in which Dr. Stratton describes the widespread impact of the pandemic on mental health. In response to increased need, the Regis Center for Counseling and Family Therapy has expanded its program to accommodate a caseload of 200 patients (up from 70 patients last year).

Dr. Emily Wang and Sherry Fuller were both awarded the 2021 Nurse Educator Award for Extraordinary Leadership by the Nurse Educator’s Conference (NEC) in the Rockies.

Regis University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program was ranked #25 in the 2020 US News and World Report ranking of physical therapist educational programs.

The Regis DPT program was ranked #20 in the 30 Most Affordable Doctor of Physical Therapy Degrees by BestMedicalDegrees.com, and a Best Value program for 2019-20 from HealthGrad.com.

The Creighton University-Regis University partnership, offering a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree, is celebrating its fifth year. Creighton University’s Occupational Therapy program was ranked #15 by US News and Report in 2020.

Dr. Reinking, Dean of the School of Physical Therapy, was awarded the Turner A. Blackburn Hall of Fame/Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy and the Catherine Worthingham Fellowship of the APTA, the highest achievement possible in APTA. In May, Dr. Reinking was elected as president of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy.

The Loretto Heights School of Nursing (LHSON) boasted a 99.2% NCLEX pass rate for its accelerated students, an all-time highest pass rate recorded by DORA in 20 years.

LHSON was named #1 in a list of "Best Colleges in Colorado for Nursing for 2018" by niche.com

Regis University’s School of Physical Therapy placed among the top 30 in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s recently released Best Colleges rankings. The University placed 32nd for Best Value Schools.

Health Services Education was the recipient of another $10,000 from the COPIC Medical Foundation for the 7th year in a row for a total of $70,000. Two students were awarded $5,000 each in this academic year for studies in the post-bachelor’s certificate in Quality and Patient Safety (QPS).

The School of Pharmacy received $12,000 for a Diversity and Inclusion Excellence Scholarship and program funding from Walgreen’s. This is the highest amount received among the three pharmacy schools in the region. The amount for each school is determined by the quality of experiences provided during the previous year.

The Division of Counseling and Family Therapy (DCFT) received a $2 million Pomponio Family Endowed Fund for the Center for Counseling and Family Therapy (CCFT) to provide excellence in education and expand service capabilities.  The donors also created awards for outstanding graduates and for faculty to support scholarly work.

The Division of Counseling and Family Therapy has secured a $100,000 donation to replace and update the technology in the Center for Counseling and Family Therapy.

The National Security Agency has awarded a $254,071 grant to RHCHP's collaborative team, including Jiang K (PI), Likarish D (Co-I), Fultan S (Co-I), Mancuso R (Co-I), Amador T (Co-I). The grant will fund a cybersecurity B.S. program: Design Integrating Human Behavior Tools (Phase I) to meet the need of underserved and under-utilized students.

The National Security Agency has awarded a significant grant ($275,939.39) to the collaborative team of Mancuso R (PI), Amador T (Co-I), Likarish D (Co-I), Jiang K (Co-I) to fund An Extensible Psychometric Metric Driven Curriculum Framework for Multi-Disciplinary CyberSecurity Educators.

The School of Physical Therapy is very pleased to announce a significant grant award to Baum B (PI), Nelson-Wong E (Co-I), Silverman A. for "Comparing Running-Specific and Traditional Prostheses during Running: Assessing Performance and Risk" ($697,999) awarded by the U.S. Department of Defense, 2015-2018.

Loretto Heights School of Nursing has received grant awards funded to Susan Dalbey by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); Nurse Faculty Loan Program in the following amounts: $39,510 for Academic Year 2017-2018, $220,333 for Academic Year 2016-2017, and $176,586 for Academic Year 2015-2016.

The Master’s in Health Services Administration (MS-HSA) program was ranked #8 of the “Top 20 graduate programs in the West for 2016,” by Master Programs Guide.

Best Colleges ranked our online Master’s in Health Services Administration (MS-HSA) program #17 in the nation for non-profit and private universities.

CollegeChoice.net ranked our Bachelor’s in Health Care Administration (BS-HCA) Program in the top tier - #8 of the top 50.

Master Programs Guide listed Regis University as having one of the “Top 50 Best Online Graduate Programs in the country for 2015-2016.”
