Ysmael Reyes teaches applied flute at Regis. He also serves on the faculty of the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts and holds the Principal Flute position of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Reyes received his M.M. from the University of Iowa in Flute Performance under Robert Dick and his B.M. from the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales in Caracas, Venezuela. He is currently in the final stages of a Doctor in Musical Arts in Flute Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying with Christina Jennings.

In addition to his work with the Cheyenne Symphony, Reyes has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Tobago and Argentina. During 2000 he was invited as solo flutist by the Juventudes Andinas Symphony Orchestra for their South American Tour. Mr. Reyes has been a prize winner in competitions including the First Latin American Flute Competition in Caracas, Venezuela, the Music Scholarship Award by the Dante Alighieri Society of Denver, and the Bruce Ekstrand Memorial Competition at the University of Colorado at Boulder. As a member of the Center for New Music in Iowa, Mr. Reyes participated in chamber music recitals in United States and Russia and had a solo appearance in the Society of Electro-Acoustic Music (SEAMUS) National Conference in 2002. More recently, Mr. Reyes was selected as a competitor for the First ‘Aurele Nicolet’ International Flute Competition in Beijing, China. He has studied in the past with Luis Julio Toro, Victor Rojas, Tadeu Coelho and Alexa Still.
