Combined Bachelor's and Master's Degrees

The combined Bachelors of Science and the Masters of Science program enable students to be admitted to the MS program during the junior year of their B.S. program, and to work thereafter towards both the Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer Networking and one of the Master of Science degree programs in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Database Technology, Information Technology Management or Information Assurance programs by completing 152 credit hours. The combined degree allows 9 credit hours of School of Computer & Information Science courses from the approved Master degree programs at the 600 level to be counted both towards the undergraduate degree requirements and to the requirements for the M.S. degree.

This program allows for early planning of the M.S. portion of the student's education, taking graduate courses as part of the B.S. degree, more flexibility in the order in which courses are taken, and more efficient use of the credit hour load.

Admission to the program

Application for admission into the School’s academic departments may be made at any time during or after the student enters his or her junior year. Minimum requirements for admission to the joint program are:

  1. completion of the core CIS/CN/CS courses, and
  2. a minimum overall GPA of 3.00.

Transfer students, in place of requirement (1) above, must have taken at least two of the core CIS/CN/CS courses at Regis University and have completed coursework at another institution (or other institutions) which is approved for transfer credit equivalent to all CIS/CN/CS core courses not taken on RU, and must have completed at least 15 credit hours of total courses at Regis University in order to qualify for admission. Eligible candidates may be required to take an aptitude test and/or participate in a telephone interview.
