Getting Started

  • These pages give students suggestions about getting familiar with the environment and get you ready to start your online course(s).

  • Important: Taking web-based classes assumes a basic comfort level with computers on the part of the student. This introduction is not intended to teach you how to use a browser, how to access the internet, or how to configure your system. If you're not sure how to get on the web, or if you're very uncomfortable with computer learning, it might be wiser to wait a bit before embarking on an online course.

Step 1: Register early. The online course format is growing and spaces in the online courses fill up fast. If a course you want is full, check back. We try to accommodate all students up until the online course registration deadline which is always the Wednesday before the term starts. Please go to WebAdvisor to register or see a list of courses.

Step 2: When you register make sure you have your username and password from the Registration Department. If you need you username and password, please contact us at 303-458-4126 or 1-800-568-8932 (toll-free).

Step 3: Get your course materials as early as possible. Course materials should be available at the online bookstore 4 weeks prior to the course starting date. Regis Bookstore

Step 4: Check our System Requirements to look at what you will need for hardware and software.

Step 5: Take time to explore the demonstration course. This is a shell of an online course, but you can use the online format before the course starts. Click here to go to the Demonstration course page. Demo Course

Step 6: When you have access to your course, spend some time exploring. When you walk into a classroom for the first time, the instructor gives you some tools to guide you through the rest of the term. These may include a syllabus, reading list, description of assignments, and grading or evaluation criteria. In the online environment, these same tools may be available. Visit each of the links off the main page of your course, and see what is there. Spend some time reviewing the "Help" file linked from the top of your course.
