AmeriCorps Scholarship Program

We Are Called to be Leaders in Service of Others

Are you or will you be involved in a significant amount of community service, unpaid clinicals, an internship, or a practicum experience during the academic year?

Regis University is pleased to offer a limited number of monetary awards through the AmeriCorps program for those students who complete a designated number of community service hours.

All full and part-time Regis students, including distance learning students, are invited to join Regis' AmeriCorps program. Regis students are selected into this program from the three Regis schools. Member benefits, responsibilities and eligibility requirements are listed below. Please note that there are a limited number of scholarships available, so students will be chosen on a first come first serve basis.

$2,363 for 900 hours of service

Members may choose to complete one or two terms of service, each year earning one Educational Award which may be applied to college tuition, post-secondary training or repayment of an educational loan. Education awards will be held for up to seven years in the National Service Trust until claimed.

Basic requirements in order to qualify as a AmeriCorps member are as follows:

  • Members must be 17 years of age; there is no upper age limit.
  • Members must be U.S. Citizens or legal residents.
  • At the time of acceptance into AmeriCorps, participants are enrolled (either full or part-time) as a Regis University student.

Interested in applying? Follow these steps to ensure a successful AmeriCorps experience:

Step One:

Read the AmeriCorps Member Handbook to see if this program is right for you.

Step Two: You will be required to attend one mandatory orientation session. Download the AmeriCorps Enrollment Packet to bring with you to the orientation. Please note that if you do not attend an orientation session, your placement will be given to another student. You should also bring a copy of documentation proving your citizenship of the U.S. (birth certificate, passport, naturalization record, etc.).

Step Three:

If you do not already have a service site, get out into the community and find a site(s). The Center for Service Learning in your school can also suggest viable service sites. Have your onsite supervisor(s) sign the Service Summary Form. Turn this in with your first AmeriCorps Monthly Hour Logs & Reflections
to your service-learning coordinator.

Step Four:

By the 10th of every month, complete the Monthly Hour Log & Reflections, have it signed by your supervisor, and deliver to your AmeriCorps representive:

Regis College (RC) - Alana McCoy in Main Hall, Room 214

School of Nursing - Vickie Hollingsworth in Carroll Hall, Room 330

School of Physical Therapy - Mary McGinn in Carroll Hall, Room 428

Distance students may also mail paperwork (faxed paperwork is not accepted) to:

Alana McCoy; RC Service Learning; 3333 Regis Blvd. E-28; Denver, CO 80221-1009

Vickie Hollingsworth; School of Nursing; 3333 Regis Blvd. G-8; Denver, CO 80221-1099

Mary McGinn; School of Physical Therapy; 3333 Regis Blvd. G-4; Denver, CO 80221-1099

Step Five:

Once you have completed all of your hours, download the AmeriCorps Exit Packet. Complete and return to your service-learning coordinator. Faxes are not accepted. Once your exit form has been finalized you can go to the following website and register for an account that allows you to control when you receive your vouchers and how it is used.
