DESCRIPTION

The Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP) is offering three amazing opportunities for Spring Break this year. If you are interested in challenging yourself and stretching your limits, then one of these trips might be the one for you. All trips are filled on a first come first served basis, so sign up today.


Death Valley


Join OAP for a cycling trip to Death Valley, California. The average temperature in March is 80 degrees as a high. We will be cycling from Pahrump, Nevada to Death Valley National Park. We will have a support vehicle and will be camping every night. One of our nights will be spent at a hot spring. Tone your thighs, work your glutes, and get a killer tan(line) this spring break ! Cost $550.


Death Valley

Trip Highlights:

  • 8 days, 7 nights of adventure
  • Camping at Red Rocks in Nevada
  • Cycling in Death Valley National Park
  • Hot Springs for a day
  • 318 miles total, 63 miles a day (1 layover day in the middle)

Trip Cost: $550.00 (Airfare included)

  • A deposit of $300.00 is required to reserve your spot.
  • Payment must be paid in full by January 30th, 2009.

Trip Cost Includes:

  • Airfare to Las Vegas
  • Road Bike Rental or personal bike shipping costs
  • Camping and National Park permits
  • Three meals per day (meals not included while traveling)
  • 1:6 guide-participant ratio

Canyonlands National Park Backpacking trip


Join OAP for a 6 day backpacking trip in Canyonlands National Park. Camp for a total of 7 nights and spend 5 nights in the desert backcountry of Utah, seeing pictographs, natural arches, and amazing canyons. Learn how to backpack more efficiently while spending your Spring Break in a magical place!

Canyonlands

Trip Highlights:

  • 5 night backpacking trip in Utah’s Canyonlands National Park
  • Experience the solitude and beauty of the Salt Creek Trail, one of the least hiked trails in the park
  • Have student leaders help you to backpack in an enjoyable and efficient way
  • Tons of opportunity to explore the park with side hikes to arches and beautiful rock formations

What to Expect:

  • Hiking 6 to 12 miles a day with a 35 to 50 pound pack
  • Camping for a total a 7 nights
  • Temperatures ranging from 30 degrees at night to 70 during the day
  • Owning a pair of hiking boots that have been worn before is highly recommended

Trip Costs: $100.00

  • Trip must be paid in full to reserve spot (5 spots available)

Trip Costs Include:

  • Education and advice on how to backpack efficiently
  • All transportation
  • Equipment Rental, including packs, tents, and much more
  • Three meals per day (meals not included while traveling)
  • Camping and National Park permits
  • A memorable Spring Break trip that won’t bust your wallet

Backcountry Ski/Snowboarding Trip


If deserts just aren't your thing and your looking to shred some fresh powder over spring break, then OAP has the right trip for you. Leave the groomed slopes behind to join the Outdoor Adventure Program for a backcountry skiing/ snowboarding trip. We will be skiing/ snowboarding during the day and staying in a Yurt/ Cabin at night.

Trip Highlights:

  • 6 days, 5nights of unbelievable powder skiing/ snowboarding
  • Lodging in a backcountry Yurt/cabin located within a pristine wilderness area
  • Learn the basics of avalanche awareness and winter travel
  • Learn how to use an avalanche beacon and probe
  • Backcountry snowshoeing
  • Wonderful backcountry cooking

Trip Costs: $300.00

  • Deposit of $150.00 required to reserve a spot (9 spots available)
  • Payment in full must be received by January 30th, 2010

What to Expect:

  • Carrying your 40-60 pound backpack into the yurt
  • Daily temperature changes
  • Helmet required for all participants

Trip Costs Include:

  • Transportation and lodging
  • Snowshoe rental (if needed)
  • Three meals per day (meals not included while traveling)
  • Avalanche beacon rental (if needed)
  • Cooking equipment
  • 1:5 guide-participant ratio

Not Included:

  • Alpine Touring(AT) ski rental (AT skis required for skiers, $70 rental for the week)
  • Splitboard rental (not required, snowshoe rental FREE)
