DESCRIPTION

Montgomery Pass Yurt The Office of Student Activities offers great alternative Break trips to give students a choice other than the "traditional" spring break. Our trips give students the opportunity to grow through community service, cultural emersion, stepping out their comfort zone, and reflection. These experiences are designed to help students expand thier knowledge, and to see the world from a new perspective.

Fall Break Programs


Moab, UT- October 9th- 13th 2009

OAP is going back to our traditional Moab Fall Break Trip. We will spend a day hiking through Arches National Park enjoying the wonderful views of Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Double O Arch, and many more. We will also spend a day Rock Climbing at Moab's Wall Street, and Mountain Biking the Klondike Bluffs Trail. (more)

Winter Break Programs


Wilderness First Responder Course (WFR)- January 8th-17th, 2010

Join OAP this Winter Break for the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Certification class taught by the pros at Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI). WMI is a division of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). The WFR certification is a nationally recognized program that trains participants how to respond to emergency situations in a remote setting. (more)

Spring Break Programs


There will be multiple Spring Break Trips offered through the Office of Student Acitvities this year.

DESCRIPTION

Domican Republic Service trip- March 6th- 14th, 2010

Want a once-in-a lifetime spring break? Then take part in an epic journey of the heart and soul in the middle of the Caribbean. Experience island life while making a positive impact on Domincan’s lives. This opportunitiy will broaden your awareness of the world, while leaving a lasting impact on others as well as yourself. Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge, Bend, Oregon- March 6th-14th, 2010

This year’s annual Habitat for Humanity trip is returning to the Pacific Northwest, this time to beautiful Bend, Oregon. Join us as we build affordable housing for families and explore the eastern foot of the Cascade Mountains. (more)

New Orleans Service trip- March 6th- 14th, 2010

Come join us for our fifth annual Alternative Spring Break trip to the Gulf Coast.We’ll be working this year with United Saints Recovery Project in New Orleans. (unitedsaints.org) Participants will be expected to help fund-raise to cover all or part of the costs. (more)

ADVENTURE BREAK SERVICE APPLICATION


DESCRIPTION

Death Valley Cycling Tour- March 6th- 13th, 2010

Join OAP for a cycling trip to Death Valley, California. The average temperature in March is 80 degrees as a high. We will be cycling from Pahrump, Nevada to Death Valley National Park. We will have a support vehicle and will be camping every night. One of our nights will be spent at a hot spring. Tone your thighs, work your glutes, and get a killer tan(line) this spring break ! Canyonlands Backpacking trip- March 5th- 12th, 2010

Join OAP for a 6 day backpacking trip in Canyonlands National Park. Camp for a total of 7 nights and spend 5 nights in the desert backcountry of Utah, seeing pictographs, natural arches, and amazing canyons. Learn how to backpack more efficiently while spending your Spring Break in a magical place! (more)

Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding trip- March 7th-12th, 2010

If deserts just aren't your thing and your looking to shred some fresh powder over spring break, then OAP has the right trip for you. Leave the groomed slopes behind to join the Outdoor Adventure Program for a backcountry skiing/ snowboarding trip. We will be skiing/ snowboarding during the day and staying in a Yurt/ Cabin at night. (more)
