If you're an associate’s-prepared RN interested in earning your master's degree, Regis University offers an innovative program designed specifically for working professionals. This new RN to MS in Nursing program combines the existing RN to BSN Completion and Master of Science in Nursing programs into a single curriculum awarding both the BSN and MS in Nursing degrees.
Classes for the RN to MS in Nursing program can be taken either on our main campus or online and are offered in an accelerated 8-week format. The campus program meets one evening per week from 5:30 P.M.-9:30 P.M. Flexibility is a key component of the online option. While the online courses require weekly participation, there are no set login times allowing students to 'go to class' when it's most convenient. New students are eligible to begin the nursing curriculum at the start of each semester and may choose to complete corequisite courses concurrently with their nursing courses.
After completion of the BSN portion of the program, students continue to complete classes for their Master’s degree in the same format as the BSN coursework. Within the Master’s portion of the program, students complete core graduate level nursing courses along with four courses in a chosen focus area, education or management. The Management focus entails course work in human resource development, economics and budgeting. The Education focus includes teaching and learning theory, curriculum development and evaluation. Both focus options include a 105 hour practicum class. This practicum is designed to provide an opportunity to apply the skills and principles taught in the theory portion of the focus area in an authentic health care management or education environment. It is recommended that the practicum requirement be completed in a facility outside that of the student’s place of employment.
