Matt Armentano PT, DPT


Picture of Matt Armentano Matt is a commissioned officer in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). He graduated in 1997 with an AB in Psychology from Wabash College. In 1998, he received a commission in the U.S. Army for the purpose of attending the U.S. Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy. After graduating from this program in 2000, he proudly served for in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO as a Staff Therapist from 2000-2003 and as Chief Therapist at Ft. McPherson, GA from 2003-2005. In 2005, Matt received his board certification in Orthopedics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and transferred from the U.S. Army to the USPHS to serve as a Physical Therapist in the Indian Health Service (IHS).

As an officer of the Commissioned Corps, he served the people of the Navajo Nation as Chief PT at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Chinle Arizona from January 2006 to December 2007. During this time, he returned to his studies receiving his DPT from the U.S. Army-Baylor University Doctoral Program in May 2007. In December 2007, he transferred to Tahlequah, OK where he practices as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.

In addition to his work as a PT in the USPHS, he serves as Field Representative Coordinator for the USPHS Therapist Professional Advisory Committee and as an active member of the Junior Officer Advisory Group's Awards Committee.

Outside of physical therapy, Matt enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and 3 wonderful children (5, 3, and 18months), brewing beer, cooking, and any physical activity outdoors.


Michael J Hoy PT, DPT, OCS


Picture of Mike Hoy Dr. Hoy graduated with his undergraduate degree from Daemen College in1995. After 12 years of practice he entered the Regis University transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy program and graduated in 2008. In 2009 he was awarded his board certification in orthopaedic physical therapy through the APTA. He lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife Amy and their two dogs.

Dr. Hoy works with Select Physical Therapy in Huntersville, North Carolina. His current practice is based in neuromusculoskeletal injury and post operative orthopaedic care. His interests are in manual and manipulative physical therapy, neurodynamic techniques, and pain sciences. Dr. Hoy’s clinical experience also includes treatment in the acute care setting and adult neurologic injury.

He is active within the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, currently serving as a district chair. He has been and APTA member since 1994 and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2006.


Christian Little DPT, OCS


Picture of Christian Little Christian Little received her Doctorate degree from Regis University in Physical Therapy in 2007. While at Regis University, she founded the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Student Special Interest Group (AAOMPT-sSIG). She went on to complete her Orthopedic Residency at University of Southern California (USC) in 2008. At USC she was involved in developing her clinical practice skills, teaching, research, and collaboration with physicians. Dr. Little is board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. She also has presented research at National and Regional Physical Therapy Conferences. She currently is a faculty member of Regis University and practices at the Regis University faculty practice.

She is committed to providing the highest quality care through the use of an evidence based practice. She utilizes manual physical therapy and develops individualized exercise programs for various musculoskeletal injuries. Christian was a collegiate soccer player and now educates athletes in her community about injury prevention. She is interested in performing research that can be effectively implemented into clinical practice. Areas of interest include injury prevention, hip clinical prediction rule, and spine interventions.

Rob Sillevis PT, DPT, PhD, MTC, PCC, CFC


Picture of Rob Sillevis Dr. Sillevis received his Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy from the Hogeschool Heerlen in the Netherlands before moving to the United States in April, 1994. He has been working in outpatient orthopedic care for the last 16 years. In 1998 he founded Integrated Therapy Practice, a private practice with a focus on manual therapy. Dr. Sillevis has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1995, the North American Spine Society since 2002, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2006 .

Dr. Sillevis completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree through the University of St. Augustine in 2003, at which time he also completed the manual therapy (MTC) and primary care (PCC) certification. In 2008, Dr. Sillevis completed the cranio-fascial, neck, and head pain (CFC) certification under Dr. Roccabado. Also, in 2008, Dr. Sillevis received his PhD from NOVA South Eastern University. His dissertation focus was on the effect of a thoracic thrust manipulation on the autonomic nervous system and how the autonomic system maintains and/or causes mechanical dysfunctions.

Dr. Sillevis currently resides in Hobart, Indiana with his wife and four children (18, 16, 11 and 8). Besides being an administrator, he carries a full patient caseload and focuses primarily on the detection and treatment of mechanical (spine) dysfunctions. Additionally, Dr. Sillevis is an adjunct faculty at the University of St. Augustine and is engaged in clinical research.




Kevin Jones PT, DPT

Dr. Jones is a 1986 graduate of the University of Missouri where he earned a BS in Physical Therapy and his DPT from Regis University in 2009. He has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1984 and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2007. He became a credentialed clinical instructor in April of 2008. He has worked in orthopedics his entire 23 year career and in a variety of settings and positions from staff therapist to administrator of rehabilitation services. He is currently employed as a civilian contractor for the United States Army and enjoys the autonomy provided in this setting.

Dr. Jones is active in his church and has been involved in numerous mission opportunities both locally and internationally. He has been married to his wife Christy for 28 years and they now live in Lebanon, Missouri.


Bill Koch PT, DPT, OCS, Cert MDT

Dr. Koch is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Law Studies (1999) followed by a Masters degree in Physical Therapy (2001). He recently completed the transitional DPT program through Regis University. He is Credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute International (2006) and is board certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (2008). Dr. Koch has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1999 and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2007.

Dr. Koch has worked in a hospital based outpatient orthopedic clinic in Wayzata, MN for eight years, where his caseload consists primarily of neuromusculoskeletal issues. The past 2 years he has served as the clinic supervisor, during which time he implemented the use of clinical outcome tools throughout the clinic.

Dr. Koch worked to co-develop and implement an acute low back pain program based on current research regarding thrust manipulation and exercise. This program was recently awarded an Innovation in Health Care Award from HealthPartners insurance company for improving population health, patient experience, and controlling the total cost of health care. He has given numerous presentations on evidence based treatments of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.


Christopher D. Kramer PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Kramer is board certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and recent graduate of the Regis University’s transitional DPT program. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and subsequently a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Dr. Kramer is currently a guest lecturer at the College of St. Catherine’s Physical Therapy Program in spinal manipulation as well as lab assistant and guest lecturer in Musculoskeletal I and II classes at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the ICSI Low Back Pain Guidelines committee and of the Acute Low Back Pain-Baskets of Care for the state of Minnesota.

Dr. Kramer has worked in an outpatient hospital system for nine years where he treats a wide array of musculoskeletal problems with an emphasis on manual therapy and exercise-based interventions. Along with a traditional case load, he is the co-director of the Acute Low Back Pain Program which applies evidence based medicine and the concepts of manual therapy and exercise in treating acute low back pain.


Angela M. Tognoni PT, DPT

Angela received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in 2003. She graduated in 2007 with her transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University.

Angela currently works as a civilian for the United States Navy in San Diego. She works in a busy outpatient physical therapy clinic that manages a variety of musculoskeletal diagnoses and serves the sailors that are stationed in the Pacific Fleet. She enjoys the autonomous practice and has been able to work alongside many providers as a result. She hopes that the fellowship with help to elevate her current level of practice and help to provide optimal care to her patients.

She is a member of the APTA as well as the orthopedic and sports sections of the APTA. Angela enjoys traveling and spending time with her English bulldog, Cooper.




Terry Cox PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Cox is a graduate of the Physical Therapy program at the University of Missouri and recently completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Regis University. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Missouri Physical Therapy Association, the International Association for the Study of Pain and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. Dr. Cox is board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and practices in the areas of orthopaedics, spine and pain management. He is a member of the faculty at Southwest Baptist University where he is responsible for teaching evidence based practice and musculoskeletal evaluation and management of the upper and lower extremities and the spine. Dr. Cox is also co-founder of and expert clinician at Aptitude Physical Therapy, LLC where he specializes in the management of orthopedic and chronic pain conditions. He also is a teaching assistant in the orthopedic residency program of Evidence in Motion. Dr. Cox has performed the duties of administrator, clinical coordinator, owner, director of clinical services and staff physical therapist during his 22 years of practice in orthopeadic physical therapy. He has presented at local and regional conferences and is actively involved in professional development and government affairs on the state level. Dr. Cox is currently involved in a research project looking at hip mobilization to improve low back pain and has a special interest in the neurobiology or pain. He co-authored a chapter in the textbook Physical Therapy of the Foot and Ankle. Dr. Cox lives in Springfield, Missouri with his wife, Angela of 25 years and his two children, Shannon and Connor.


Jonathan Andersen PT, DPT, OCS


Picture of Jonathan AndersenJon Andersen completed his doctorate in physical therapy from Loma Linda University in June of 2006. Jon became board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (OCS) in May 2008. He has completed three long term manual therapy and movement science courses as well as multiple short term classes. Since obtaining his degree in PT, Jon has practiced at and co-owned Andersen Physical Therapy in Modesto, California. Andersen PT is a family owned Orthopaedic and Sports clinic. His professional memberships include; APTA and CAPTA since 2003, as well as AAOMPT since 2009.

Jon has lived in both California and Hawaii for his undergraduate and graduate studies. Currently living in the central valley of California where he spends much of his free time Backpacking, Biking, and Kayaking in Yosemite and the surrounding Sierra Nevada.


Heidi A. Ojha PT, DPT, OCS


Picture of Heidi Ojha Dr. Ojha is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist, and has over 8 years of experience in outpatient orthopedics. She received her Bachelors and Masters in Physical Therapy from Boston University in 2001 and began her clinical career at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California while she earned her Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) through Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars at Kaiser, Hayward. Subsequently, she has graduated from both the orthopedic clinical residency program in 2006 and the Post-Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2007 at the University of Southern California. She completed two six month advanced course series in Manual Therapy and Movement Science and integrates this knowledge into her ongoing practice. She is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy and the American Physical Therapy Association. Currently, Dr. Ojha lives in Haddonfield New Jersey and serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Temple University where she directs the department's faculty practice, instructs in the musculoskeletal tracks of the entry-level and transitional DPT programs, and is establishing an orthopedic residency program for the department. Her initial research has centered on the attentional demands of stair climbing in younger versus older adults and future interests include the economical impacts of physical therapists serving in a direct access capacity and studying interventions of regional interdependence in individuals with low back pain. She jogs and rock climbs with her husband on weekends and enjoys being part of the fast-paced profession of physical therapy.


Kevin Lulofs-MacPherson PT, DPT, MTC, CSCS


Picture of Kevin Lulofs-MacPhersonDr. Lulofs-MacPherson received his entry-level Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Florida in 2002. He was recently awarded his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Augustine, where is also attained his certification in manual therapy. He is currently a member of both the Illinois chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. In addition, Dr. Lulofs-MacPherson is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His practice experience has predominantly focused on out-patient orthopaedic physical therapy, but he has worked part-time in the sub-acute setting. He enjoys working with patients suffering from all types of musculoskeletal dysfunction but prefers spinal pain patients.

Dr. Lulofs-MacPherson spent his first 6 years of practice in Tampa, FL but now resides in Chicago, IL. He maintains licensure in both states. At present, he works as a Staff Physical Therapist for ATI Physical Therapy in the suburb of Westmont. His caseload ranges from geriatric balance disorder to sports related injuries in teenagers. He is involved in the planning and development stages of an employer-sponsored educational model that incorporates weekend continuing education classes with in-clinic reinforcement. He hopes to provide evidence for this model as the preferred continuing education delivery method. Dr. Lulofs-MacPherson is focused on advancing the profession of physical therapy by seeking and providing quality mentorship in the field of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy.

On a personal note, Kevin enjoys attending the numerous outdoor events that Chicago has to offer. He also enjoys walking with his dog Ollie though the historic neighborhoods of the city.


Eric Arguello PT


Picture of Eric Arguello Dr. Arguello graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pre-Medicine. He then completed the requirements for the Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology at Florida State University in 2000. He also received his Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of South Florida in 2006 and the Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Regis University in 2008. He is currently a PhD Exercise Physiology Candidate at Florida State University with an anticipated completion in the fall of 2009. His doctoral dissertation is investigating the effect of focal cooling on knee joint stability and biomechanics. His other research interests include the clinical management of athletes with knee and shoulder dysfunction.

Dr. Arguello has a variety of health care experience. He has previously served as a Medic in the United States Air Force and a Licensed Vocational Nurse and Emergency Medical Technician. During his Physical Therapy career, Dr. Arguello has practiced in the outpatient setting managing patients primarily with orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries. He currently practices in an outpatient clinic in Tampa, FL. His overall goal is to teach at the University level in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

r. Arguello is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Sports section, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In his free time, Dr. Arguello enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and coaching wrestling.


Denis Nolan PT


Denis Nolan P.T. graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy in 1990, licensed in State of Texas. He is concurrently earning his Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy through Regis University and preparing for the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Exam. Mr. Nolan is a recent member of American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists, a career-long member of the American Physical Therapy Association, and current member of the Research Section. He is an APTA Certified Clinical Instructor, and aspires to one day become a Professor of Physical Therapy.

Although currently serving on remote assignment in the Republic of Korea, he will move his spouse, Ellen, their three boys (Jon, Jus, James) and their dog Ranger (Border Collie) to Northern California in June 2009. There he will operate the second largest Physical Therapy Clinic in the Air Force.

Mr. Nolan’s career path reflects his love of eclectic practice. He started his career as a pediatric therapist at Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, a non-profit charity hospital in San Antonio, TX, where his primary duties included oncology ward, spina bifida clinic, cerebral palsy habilitation. His 10 years of civilian practice also included concentrations in amputee rehab, catastrophic injury rehab (TBI, SCI, poly-trauma), orthopedics (in/outpatient). In pursuit of autonomy and education, he entered military service in June 2000 as an active-duty officer in the United States Air Force. Current duties include Medical Group Senior Executive, Deputy Clinical Medicine Flight Commander, Element Chief Physical Therapy Clinic. As a military therapist, and physician extender he has earned credentials for full autonomous practice and in times of low census, operates his as an open access PT facility.

Greatest accomplishments: servant of Jesus Christ, 19 years of marriage to his loving wife Ellen, fatherhood.

Kane McAndrew DPT, OCS


Picture of Kane McAndrew Kane McAndrew received his DPT from the U.S. Army -Baylor University Doctoral program in Physical Therapy in 2006.He received his OCS certification in 2008. He is an active duty Army physical and has over 15 years of military service. He is presently serving as the assistant chief of Physical Therapy in an outpatient clinic at Fort Polk, LA and will be transferring to Fort Campbell, KY this summer to serve as a physical therapist for a brigade combat team.

Kane enjoys the autonomous practice setting that the military offers and has a special interest in orthopedic and sports physical therapy as this is the majority of what affects most soldiers. He continues to strive to gain experience and education through the fellowship to allow him to provide optimal care to his patients.

He is a member of the APTA, orthopedic, federal and sports sections of the APTA along with the AAOMPT and National strength and conditioning association. Kane enjoys traveling and working out during his free time.


Geoffrey Klein PT, MPT, OCS


Picture of Geoffrey KleinGeoffrey received his Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University in November 1997. After working as a staff PT and manager at an out-patient facility in downtown Chicago, he completed an Orthopedic Residency Program at University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics and Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. At the completion of the residency Geoffrey became board-certified in Orthopedics in 2006. He returned to Chicago for two years and managed an out-patient facility before moving to Denver, Colorado in October of 2008. He currently works in Boulder, Colorado, and is completing the transitional doctorate physical therapy program at Regis University.

Geoffrey has worked predominately in an out-patient, orthopedic environment and specializes in spinal therapy, TMD, and shoulder pathologies. He is a member of the orthopedic section of the Colorado chapter of the APTA, as well as AAOMPT. He enjoys scuba diving, soccer, hiking, and skiing.


Nicklaus E. Biederwolf PT, DPT, CSCS


Picture of Nicklaus Biederwolf Nick was a 2004 graduate of the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse where he attained his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. He also recently received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in the summer of 2008 at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Nick is a member of the APTA and its Orthopedic and Sports sections, the AAOMPT, and the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Nick has practiced for nearly four years in outpatient sports and orthopedics in the Phoenix valley area.

Nick’s primary goal as a practitioner is to provide the highest possible level of care to the patient, whom he views as the most important person in the clinic. His desire to accomplish this goal has led him to pursue a fellowship in manual therapy to complement a strong background and clinical interests in functional biomechanics, therapeutic exercise, performance training, strength training, and conditioning.

On a personal level, Nick enjoys strength training, golf, football and basketball. He enjoys spending his free time with his friends and University of La Crosse classmates that have also journeyed with him from the Midwest to the Phoenix valley area.


Francis C. Jung PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. MDT, COMT


Picture of Francis Jung Dr. Jung received Diploma in Physical Therapy from College of Health Science, Korea University in 1996. He then studied Exercise Science and earned Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from University at Buffalo, State University of New York in 2005.

Dr. Jung is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy credentialed by American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is a Certified McKenzie Method Provider of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy from McKenzie Institute USA and a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist from Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. Dr. Jung is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Dr. Jung currently practices in a private outpatient orthopedic clinic located in Sterling, Virginia where he utilizes biomechanical analysis and strong evidence-based research to perform biomechanical diagnosis and to provide quality care for his patients. Dr. Jung is one of few primary practitioners in the local medical community to provide in-office Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo Maneuvers and Vestibular Rehabilitation. He also offers golf performance program including video swing analysis for various level of golfers in the area.

Dr. Jung co-authored two journal articles on cardiovascular & pulmonary rehabilitation and also received an award for best poster presentation from APTA combined section meeting. His recent research interest includes cervicogenic dizziness, utilization of subgroup classification favoring lateral principle for non-specific low back pain, and regional interdependence approach for golfers with mechanical low back pain.

In his free time, Dr. Jung enjoys hiking and playing soccer. He is an avid golfer and a martial artist in both Kumdo and TaeKwonDo. He also enjoys mentoring regional physical therapy graduate students and clinicians.


P. Cody Weisbach PT, DPT


Picture of Cody Weisbach Dr. Weisbach earned his Bachelor of the Arts in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and completed his doctor of physical therapy at Simmons College in Boston, MA in 2007.

Since graduation, he has worked with an orthopedic population in a hospital based outpatient setting at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. In addition to his clinical duties, he has acted as a clinical investigator for several studies currently pending publication and is the primary investigator of a study investigating the effects of manual physical therapy applied to the hip in patients with low back pain. Dr. Weisbach has been published in the Physical Therapy Journal and recently participated in a clinical commentary on the influence of the hip in low back pain that has been accepted for publication in the February 2008 issue of the Journal of Sports Rehabilitation.

Dr. Weisbach has been active in the American Physical Therapy Association since 2004 and is a member of the Orthopedic Section of the APTA and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. In his free time, Dr. Weisbach enjoys rock climbing and skiing with his wife and he is currently training for the 2009 Boston Marathon.


Charles G. Blake PT


Picture of Charles Blake Mr. Blake is a 2001 graduate from the US Army/Baylor Graduate Program in Physical Therapy and is currently a Captain in the Army Medical Specialist Corps. He is a member of the APTA, the Orthopaedic and Sports Sections and also holds membership in the AAOMPT and the American Medical Athletic Association. He has held numerous positions throughout the Army at Fort Drum, NY, Fort Campbell, KY and Fort Sill, OK. At Fort Campbell, he created and implemented the process for direct access of Soldiers to physical therapy and established Physical Therapy within the department of orthopedics as valued primary care managers for neuro-musculoskeletal injuries by triaging deploying Soldiers to primary care, neurology, orthopedics or physical therapy. From Fort Campbell he deployed to Iraq in November 2004 – November 2005 with the 86th Combat Support Hospital as one of three physical therapists in country. As the chief of outpatient orthopedics and Physical Therapy, CPT blake was responsible for diagnosing and treating all coalition members from overuse to traumatic war time injuries. He is a charter member of the Internal Review Board for all research conducted in the theater. At Fort Sill, OK he became the first Physical Therapist on Brigade Staff in the US Army Training and Doctrine Command and carries the title of Brigade Surgeon. He is directly responsible for evaluating Soldiers who become injured in Basic Combat Training and removing them from training if they are unsafe to train. If a Soldier is removed from training, CPT Blake is responsible for the plan and execution of their healing, rehabilitation and reconditioning so the Soldier may return to training. This is the only such program in the Army and Fort Sill now boasts the best return to duty rate of any of the five Basic training sites.

CPT Blake is the primary author for research to identify traits that make a trainee susceptible to stress fractures and he has a case for the Imaging Section in JOSPT under review for hip fractures. He has presented original research (second author) at Baylor University Graduate Day in 2001 and this research was published in PTJ in 2004.

In his free time, Mr. Blake likes to go long in his running shoes or on his bicycle.


Chris Frentz DPT


Picture of Chris Frentz Chris received his DPT from Creighton University in 2003. Previously, he graduated from Hope College in Holland Michigan. Since becoming a therapist, Chris has practiced full time in South Bend, Indiana treating orthopedic related injuries at a hospital- based outpatient clinic. Chris can also be found at the local pool as an assistant coach for Irish Aquatics.

Chris enjoys working with future physical therapists as a clinical instructor. In 2007 he was recognized as Marquette University’s Clinical Instructor of the year. Professionally, Chris maintains an active roll in the American Physical Therapy Association and is a member of American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. He is currently is pursuing his Fellowship in Manual Therapy through Regis University.

When he is not working Chris enjoys hiking and backpacking, playing volleyball, racquetball and football along with working around the house. During the winter months he also volunteers with an alpine ski group assisting handicap children conquer the ski slopes.


Andrea R. Marchese PT, DPT, CMT


Picture of Andrea Marchese Dr. Marchese graduated from Colorado State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science with emphasis in Sports Medicine. During this time, she teacher assisted in Gross Anatomy and Human Dissection. She continued her education at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and earned her certification in massage. She practiced massage therapy for a year and decided to continue her education at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver (UCDHSC) where she earned a Master of Science (2005) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (2007).

Dr. Marchese currently works at an outpatient clinic associated with a small community hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. She primarily treats patients with orthopedic injuries across the lifespan. In addition, Dr. Marchese started her own fee for service business this year as a manual therapist in downtown Grand Junction. In the future, she hopes to participate in the development of a physical therapy assistant program at Mesa State College. Her professional interests include direct access, evidence-based practice, clinical education, manual therapy and research.

Dr. Marchese is a current member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) with section membership in orthopedics, the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center Physical Therapy Alumni Association and the American Heart Association.


Anthony Wayne McCormick PT, MS, OCS, CSCS


Picture of Anthony McCormick Mr. McCormick is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy as well as being a graduate of Auburn University with a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Mr. McCormick is board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Mr. McCormick has clinical interests in spine and lower quarter dysfunction as well as sports-related injury prevention and rehabilitation. He has provided sports-medicine physical therapy as well as strength and conditioning concepts to the high school, college and professional level.

He is currently concluding his transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree with Regis University and plans to help establish residency programs in the southeast upon completion of his fellowship training.

He is an avid woodworker, musician and martial artist.


Patricia S. Vickland DPT, MA


Picture of Patricia Vickland Dr. Vickland earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from University of California, Los Angeles, in 1976 and her master's in Physical Therapy from Standford University School of Medicine in 1978. Patricia was awarded Magna Cum Laude from UCLA and graduated with high honor recognition from Stanford.

Early employment included staff physical therapist positions at University of California, San Francisco, and San Francisco General Hospital. She started an outpatient private practice physical therapy clinic in San Francisco in l979, specializing in general orthopedics and sports medicine, until she moved to Longmont, Colorado in l985. Dr. Vickland incorporated her second private practice outpatient clinic in l986, where she continues as President with management and clinical responsibilities, specializing in manual therapy, orthopedics, and sports medicine.

Dr. Vickland completed her transitional doctorate degree from Regis University, December of 2007, and is currently a manual therapy fellow in training. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Colorado Chapter of the APTA, Orthopedic and Private Practice sections, and was the first female Paul Harris Fellow in the Longmont Rotary Club.

Patricia is the mother of seven children ranging in age from 21 to 8 years old.


Richard Burton Westrick DPT


Picture of Richard Westrick Rich received his DPT from the U.S. Army – Baylor University Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy in 2006. He is an active-duty Army physical therapist, currently the PT for the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson, CO. He has been in the military for over twelve years serving in numerous assignments including Assistant Chief of physical therapy at 121st Combat Support Hospital in Seoul, South Korea, a combat tour as the PT for the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force in Iraq, with previous assignments in Heidelberg Germany, Walter Reed Army Medical Center D.C., and San Antonio, TX.

Rich enjoys practicing in the direct-access military setting, particularly in the field of orthopedic and sports physical therapy. He has found evidence-based manual therapy skills to be an invaluable asset while providing physical therapy to soldiers. While off-duty, Rich enjoys taking advantage of all Colorado has to offer including skiing, trail running, hiking, mountain biking, camping, and rafting.

He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (Orthopedics and Sports sections) as well as the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.




Craig Goldberg PT, DPT

Dr. Craig Goldberg currently works at an outpatient PT owned clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, but he will probably be relocating to Austin, Texas to pursue other PT opportunities.

He graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, received his t-DPT from University of St. Augustine, and recently became an OCS. He comes into the Fellowship program because he wants to be a better clinician, become an educator, and perhaps engage in research. Dr. Goldberg has a background in fitness/wellness and hope to partner this with his PT work in the future.

In his "spare time" Dr. Goldberg Iikes to read inspirational work and is presently completing the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. He also enjoys books on networking and marketing. He exercises 5-6 days per week as much for the mental as physical. Dr. Goldberg is married and has a 2.75 year old boy who is absolutely great and exhausting.


Ramesh Malladi PT, DPT


Picture of Ramesh Malladi Dr. Malladi graduated from University of Madras, India in the year 1988 with a bachelor degree in physiotherapy. His career began in a multi-specialty hospital as a physical therapist and gradually got involved in administration and teaching. He was also instrumental in establishing a Stroke Care Unit at the hospital and ran it successfully for six years. He has conducted seminars and workshops for students and physical therapists on Motor Control and Stroke management. He migrated to USA to pursue higher education and to enhance his professional skills.

Dr. Malladi after moving to Michigan worked in geriatrics for a short period and moved on to work with TBI patients for four years. He is currently a part of Alternative Rehab Inc., Livonia Michigan an outpatient physical therapy practice that specializes in orthopedic manual physical therapy. He completed the orthopedic manual physical therapy residency program offered by Institute of Manual Physical therapy. As a faculty member of IMPT he teaches neurological basis of the orthopedic problems and assists Dr. Deepak Sebastian PT, MHS, MTC, DPT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT in mentoring the residents of the Institute of Manual Physical therapy program. He completed the Doctor of Physical therapy program offered by the AT Still University of Health Sciences in the year 2006. He has Presented a poster at the International Conference on Organization and Delivery of Neurological Services November 1994, New Delhi, India Motor Relearning Program in Stroke Rehabilitation He recently presented at the poster session of the Annual AAOMPT conference March 2007, St. Louis MO. Suprascapular nerve entrapment at Spinoglenoid notch-Effectiveness of Physical Therapy Management.

He currently maintains an active membership at the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic section and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy.





Raghu Aravind Chovvath PT, DPT, OCS


Picture of Raghu Chovvath Dr. Chovvath, having graduated from a college of physiotherapy in Chennai, India in January of 1988, established and ran the physical therapy services of a major hospital. In this institution he was also involved in a teaching program for entry level students of physical therapy for seven years. He migrated to the United States of America in search of further improving his professional skills.

In the U.S., initially having worked in geriatrics, he got interested in the field of manual therapy. Following this interest and having tried many eclectic training programs and getting board certified in orthopedic physical therapy, he finally settled in the orthopedic physical therapy residency program of the Institute of Manual Physical Therapy. Having graduated from this program he followed up by completing his DPT program from the A.T. Still Institute of Health Sciences in Arizona. Presently he practices in a busy outpatient orthopedic practice and teaches in the Institute of Manual Physical Therapy mentoring residents in orthopedic physical therapy. He has always been interested in research and, in the midst of his busy practice, has participated in a study evaluating the reliability of positional palpation of lumbar spine along with Dr. Deepak Sebastian PT, MHS, MTC,DPT,Phd, FAAOMPT. He presently lives in Michigan and practices at the Alternative Rehab Inc. in Livonia. He maintains membership in the APTA , Orthopedic section and the Academy of the Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy.


Hanni R. Cowley PT, SCS, CSCS


Picture of Hanni Cowley Hanni received her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in December 2004. After working for 6 months in a rural outpatient clinic, she completed a Sports Residency Program at Gundersen Lutheran Sports Medicine in La Crosse, WI. At the completion of the Residency Program she continued to work in the Sports Medicine Clinic at Gundersen Lutheran in a position that is part-time clinic and part-time research. Her research interests and publications are based in the area of lower extremity biomechanics, injury risk factors, and prevention in athletes. Hanni became board certified in Sports Physical Therapy in 2007. Hanni also is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Physical Therapy program and assists with musculoskeletal evaluation and treatment classes and research based classes. Awards include the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association 2005 Rookie of the Year, Graduate Student Achievement Award – UW- La Crosse, and Jim Gould “Make a Difference” Award.


Sumesh Thomas PT, DPT, MPT, OCS


Picture of Sumesh Thomas Dr. Sumesh Thomas is a physical therapist who specializes in general orthopedic physical therapy. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists. He received his doctorate degree in physical therapy with honors from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Prior to earning his doctorate degree, he earned an Associates degree in Health from Baltimore City Community College, a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical Therapy and a Master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Maryland Baltimore. In addition, Dr. Thomas has received advanced training in manual and manipulative therapy. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists as an orthopedic physical therapy specialist, and is a certified clinical instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association; and has had the opportunity to instruct and mentor many excellent physical therapists over the last decade. Today, Dr. Thomas serves as one of the chairmen of the Maryland Physical Therapy Association, and is the president of Brockbridge Therapy, Inc., a physical therapy corporation.




Amy Garrigues PT, DPT


Dr. Garrigues graduated from Simmons College in Boston (2004) with a doctorate in Physical Therapy. She chose to pursue a Health and Wellness concentration while at Simmons, aimed toward Nutrition. Dr. Garrigues presented an epidemiological study on ski injuries during the culmination of her Doctorate. The study compared the incidence of lower leg fracture in skiers and snowboarders to that of persons on ski boards, a newer style of ski with non-releasable bindings. She is currently involved in the Fellowship in Manual Therapy program at Regis University (Denver, CO). She has been accepted and will be sitting for the Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist boards in March 2007.

Dr. Garrigues has been a member of APTA since 2001 (Sports and Orthopaedics sections), and AAOMPT since 2006. She was panelist on clinical education at the APTA Annual Conference (June 2005) in Boston, MA.

Dr. Garrigues’ clinical experience is in orthopaedics. She began working at a private, outpatient facility in Maine that specializes in sports and orthopaedic injuries in a predominately adolescent population. She is currently employed at a private, outpatient clinic in Minnesota specializing in back and neck pain, but enjoys the challenge of treating patients of all orthopaedic diagnoses.

Dr. Garrigues came to the profession of physical therapy after several years of working as a professional ski patroller at a large eastern ski resort. She is currently in her eleventh season of ski patrolling, now based at a small ski area near Minneapolis, MN.


Shane Koppenhaver MPT, OCS


Picture of Shane Koppenhaver MAJ Koppenhaver, an active-duty Army physical therapist, is currently a full-time student at the University of Utah where he is working toward a PhD in Exercise Physiology under the mentorship of Dr. Julie Fritz. He received his Masters of Physical Therapy degree from the U.S. Army/Baylor University Graduate Program in 1998, and became board certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 2001. MAJ Koppenhaver has served in a wide variety of physical therapy positions including chief of physical therapy in a small out-patient Army clinic and assistant chief of physical therapy in a large Army medical center in Germany. Most recently, he started and directed the Army’s second Amputee Care Center in San Antonio, Texas. MAJ Koppenhaver has lectured to military physical therapist and physician colleges on musculoskeletal injuries and DOD/VHA Clinical Practice Guidelines for Low Back Pain and Sciatica in Primary Care, served as an associate professor in Northern Virginia Community College’s Physical Therapy Assistant Program and is currently an adjunct professor in the U.S. Army-Baylor University Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy. His publications include a randomized clinical trial (RCT) on lateral epicondylitis and a literature review on conservative care of low back pain. Additionally he has been involved with four RCTs investigating optimal management strategies for low back pain, spinal stenosis, adhesive capsulitis, and shoulder impingement.

MAJ Koppenhaver is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. His current research interests and PhD dissertation involve investigating the underlying neurophysiological and biomechanical mechanisms of spinal manipulation using rehabilitative ultrasound imaging (RUSI) to measure trunk muscle function and a novel ultrasound indentation method to measure spinal stiffness. Outside of physical therapy, MAJ Koppenhaver serves on the board of directors of Save The World (STW), Inc. and enjoys outdoor activities with his family.


Michael Leal PT, MPT


Picture of Michael Leal Michael graduated from California State Long Beach in June of 2000 obtaining a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Human Development with an emphasis in neurophysiology. He then attended graduate physical therapy school at Mount Saint Mary’s college in Los Angeles earning a Master’s of Physical Therapy degree in December 2002. After graduation, Michael began working within the Kaiser Permanente healthcare setting in March of 2003 as a staff physical therapist in Baldwin Park, California. This included primary exposure to orthopaedic conditions as well as specific sport functional training for selected post surgical athletes.

In June of 2005, Michael was approached by Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona California, to lead a project involving the creation and implementation of a faculty practice. This also involved an appointment as Assistant Professor within their Physical Therapy program. During 2005-2006 Michael established the faculty practice clinic as well as participated in various teaching opportunities in the DPT orthopaedic curriculum. In January of 2006, Michael continued his professional development by enrolling in the transitional DPT program at Regis University.

In July of 2006, Michael accepted a position of clinical specialist at Kaiser Permanente in Downey, California. His primary goals and responsibilities have included staff mentorship, assessment of current practice paradigms, consultant for the cognitive behavioral pain program, and the establishment of Evidence-Based Practice principles within the Kaiser HMO setting. In addition to his regular job responsibilities at Kaiser, he is very active with local private practice clinics consulting with them in the implementation of outcome tools, and encouraging the professional shift towards Evidence-Based Practice. In the spring of 2007 Michael will be assisting in the DPT program at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, CA. This will include lectures on Evidence-Based Practice as well as integration of the pain sciences in patient management.

Michael is a current member of the following professional organizations: American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) with section membership in orthopedics, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), and the Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI) out of Australia. Michael’s professional interests are focused on Evidence-Based Practice, manual therapy, clinical reasoning, the pain sciences, and sports rehabilitation.


David Penn PT, DPT,OCS


Picture of David Penn Dr. David Penn is a practicing physical therapist with a primary clinical interest in orthopedic & sports medicine, manual therapy, and injury prevention programs. He is the director of clinical operations at the Centre Of Rehabilitation Excellence (CORE) in Longview, Texas, developed the 1st CARF Accredited Program in East Texas for comprehensive occupational rehabilitation, and is co-owner of New Dimensions Rehabilitation in Tyler, Tx. Dr. Penn completed his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 1990 at Southwest Texas State University. Dr. Penn advanced his education by completing his doctor of physical therapy degree from Creighton University in 2004 and is currently enrolled in the Fellowship Program in Manual Therapy at Regis University. Dr. Penn received his board certification in orthopedic physical therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association in 1997 and recertification in 2007.

Dr. Penn is co-owner of Apex Clinical Associates, PLLC consulting firm and SuperSlow® Personal Training Studio. Dr. Penn also enjoys mentoring through being a clinical instructor and participates in the admissions process for the physical therapy program at Texas State University, San Marcos, TX and assistant program at Kilgore College, Kilgore, TX. Dr. Penn is a member of the Texas Physical Therapy Association, American Physical Therapy Association, Private Practice & Orthopedic Section of the APTA and American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

In addition to being married, he has two beautiful children whom he adores. Outside interests include competitive tennis, basketball, water sports, and coaching his children in the sport of the day.


Daniel Pinto PT, OCS


Picture of Daniel Pinto Mr. Pinto received his Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Touro College in New York City in 2002. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and Meriter Hospital's Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program in 2004. He received his board certification in orthopaedic physical therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2006.

Mr. Pinto currently serves as supervisor of Physical Therapy and Wellness at Denver's Regional Transportation District. He is a lab assistant with Evidence in Motion and a member of the affiliate faculty at Regis University in Denver, CO. Mr. Pinto maintains active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Stephanie Albin PT, DPT


Picture of Stephanie Albin Stephanie graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science. She then successfully completed requirements for the Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Utah in 2003 and for the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Regis University in 2004.

After graduating, Stephanie accepted a job at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (TOSH) in Salt Lake City where she has been engaged in full-time clinical practice managing a variety of outpatient orthopedic diagnoses. Currently, she is the Education Coordinator of TOSH and is part of the clinical guidance team for Intermountain Healthcare which is responsible for standardizing the evaluation of patients and assuring patient management is coherent with an evidence-based approach.

She recently received grant funding for a study comparing the effects of stretching the gastrocnemius in different positions on the muscles of the deep posterior tibial compartment. She is also currently involved in a research project assessing the activity of the rotator cuff muscles during various exercises. Stephanie has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2000. She is also currently a member of the Orthopedic Section.


Gary P. Austin PT, PhD


Picture of Gary Austin Dr. Austin completed his professional education with a B.S. in Physical Therapy in 1987 from the University of Connecticut and returned to earn a doctorate in Sport Science with a concentration in Sport Biomechanics in 1998. Dr. Austin began his clinical career as a staff physical therapist at a hospital based out-patient clinic and has 20 years of experience primarily in the orthopaedic, sports, and occupational medicine settings. He currently practices at the Sacred Heart University Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center, a faculty practice with three offices. Dr. Austin is a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute and consults with the Sacred Heart University Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams. Awards include the APTA Margaret L. Moore Award for Outstanding New Academic Faculty Member, and the Outstanding Physical Therapy Professional Award from the Neag School of Education Alumni Society of the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Austin is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy and Director, Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT (http://physicaltherapy.sacredheart.edu/). Dr. Austin teaches in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the area of Musculoskeletal Examination and Intervention. Dr. Austin has authored 3 book chapters, multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts and has presented at state and national meetings and is a manuscript reviewer for several journals including Physical Therapy, Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, Physiotherapy Theory and Practice, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Perceptual and Motor Skills. Dr. Austin is a member the American Physical Therapy Association (Orthopaedics, Sports, and Research Sections) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy.


Scott A. Burns PT, DPT


Picture of Scott Burns Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001 being awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. He went on to physical therapy school at the University of Colorado Denver, where he completed his Master of Physical Therapy degree in May of 2005. He continued with the transition DPT program at University of Colorado Denver and graduated in December of 2005.

In June of 2006, Dr. Burns was elected President of the University of Colorado Denver Physical Therapy Program Alumni Association. He has coordinated a lecture series for physical therapists as well as continuing education courses. Dr. Burns also is a certified cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructor through the American Heart Association. He teaches CPR courses as a fund-raiser for the Alumni Association. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Alumni of the Year Award by the University of Colorado Denver Physical Therapy Alumni Association.

Currently, Dr. Burns works in a PT-owned outpatient orthopaedic facility, named Therapies of Colorado, located in the Denver Metro area. Also, he is a lab assistant with the musculoskeletal tract, surface palpation and patient care seminar courses at the University of Colorado Denver Physical Therapy Program. Additionally, he serves as the team physical therapist for the Glendale Rugby Club.

Dr. Burns is a current member of the following organizations: American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) with section memberships in orthopaedics, the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), University of Colorado Denver Physical Therapy Alumni Association and the American Heart Association. Gray Carpenter PT, DPT

Dr. Gray Carpenter graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from East Carolina University in 1992 and completed his doctor of physical therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006. Dr. Carpenter also completed the Certificate in Orthopeadic Manual Therapy from Manual Concepts, Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia in 2002.

During his career, Dr. Carpenter has primarily worked in an outpatient setting but has experience in several settings such as acute care, home health, inpatient rehab and wound care. He currently works as a staff physical therapist at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, N.C. as well as serving as an adjunct professor at Elon University in the musculoskeletal module.

Dr. Carpenter has been very active in the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association and has held several positions with NCPTA. He is also a member of the sports and orthopedic section of the APTA. Dr. Carpenter is a member of AAOMPT and NCSA.


Bryan Dennison PT, MPT, CSCS


Picture of Bryan Dennison Bryan graduated from San Diego State University in June of 2000 being awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training. In August of 2000, he began graduate school at Mount Saint Mary’s College in Los Angeles earning a Master’s of Physical Therapy degree in December of 2002. In April of 2003, he was appointed to a clinical faculty position at the University of Southern California (USC) with a primary responsibility of providing patient care at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy faculty practice. At that time, he began working towards his post-professional DPT degree through USC. In July of 2004, he passed the examination process for becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. In addition to providing patient care at the faculty practice, Bryan also participated in research activities and was involved in teaching in the first professional program. In January of 2006, he resigned from USC and relocated to Mammoth Lakes, CA. Also in January of 2006, Bryan made an education transition ending the post-professional DPT program at USC and beginning the transition DPT program at Regis University. Currently, Bryan works at Mammoth Hospital in the outpatient physical therapy department with 6 other physical therapists and 1 physical therapist assistant. Mammoth Hospital is a small, rural, 15–bed hospital which sponsors the US Ski and Snowboard Teams in addition to providing health care services for the local community and its visitors. His professional interests lie primarily in orthopedics. He is particularly interested in evidence-based practice, manual therapy and the incorporation of the pain sciences into patient management. He is a current member of the following professional organizations: the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) with section memberships in orthopedics and sports, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).


Chad Garvey PT, OCS, CSCS


Chad Garvey, PT, OCS, CSCS Mr. Garvey received his bachelor’s in health science in physical therapy degree from the University of Louisville in 1999 and received board certification in orthopaedics by the American Physical Therapy Association in 2004. He also has held strength and conditioning certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2001. He is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Kentucky Physical Therapy Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. During his six year career, he has practiced in a variety of settings during his career including long term care, industrial, acute care, and outpatient orthopaedics. He currently is directing an outpatient orthopaedic clinic full time in his hometown of Louisville, KY while pursuing his clinical doctorate from Regis University. His current research interests include manual therapy in the treatment of the spine and shoulder as well as treatment of various chronic tendinopathies. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey and weight training as well as spending time with his family.


Terry L. Gebhardt PT, MPT, DPT, OCS


DESCRIPTION Dr. Gebhardt is a board certified Orthopaedic Physical Therapist who completed his Master of Physical Therapy at the U.S. Army-Baylor Program in 1998. Dr. Gebhardt served 7 years as a physical therapist in the Army treating musculoskeletal injuries working in a primarily direct access environment. He also worked extensively with the Army’s injury prevention program. He ended his Army career in 2004 and moved to Boulder, CO to begin working in a private, outpatient orthopaedic clinic and to pursue his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Regis University in 2006. His areas of clinical expertise and interest include spine and sports rehabilitation where he incorporates his passion for fitness with physical therapy.

Dr. Gebhardt is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He has published in the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy and is currently active in clinical research.


Amy Kirkland PT, MSR, SCS, OMT


Picture of Amy Kirkland Amy graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2003 with her Masters degree in Physical Therapy, where she received the Richard Borden award for clinical excellence. She received her manual therapy certification in 2005 when she trained under Dr Richard Erhard. In 2007, she completed a sports residency program through Proaxis Physical Therapy, and received board certification in sports physical therapy. She is currently enrolled in the Transitional Doctorate Program at Regis University.

Amy practices as a primary point of entry into a spine center that is a joint effort between Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and Proaxis Therapy. With this endeavor she plans to continue her research interests in the spine, as well as outcomes of PT diagnosis in a primary point of care role. She is the CCCE for Proaxis and has developed an intensive student curriculum. She has recently been invited to serve as a lab assistant for Evidence in Motion.

Invited presentations include those related to athletics and spine for the Steadman Hawkins Sports Symposium and Primary Care Symposium. Other presentations have included the South Carolina Chapter of the APTA District Meeting, South Carolina Coaches Association Upstate Conference, and the South Carolina Athletic Association State Conference in which she presented her case study, “Surgical and Therapeutic Management of a Complete Hamstring Rupture after a Failed Conservative Approach”. Amy is a member of the Orthopedics Section of the APTA and the AAOMPT.

In her spare time she enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and watching the basketball team from the University of North Carolina.


Weston A. Lindsay PT, OCS, ATC


Picture of Weston Lindsay Weston is a licensed Physical Therapist, Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist, and a Certified Athletic Trainer. His professional membership includes the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as well as the Orthopaedic and Sports sections of that organization, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), and the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.

Weston received his degree in Athletic Training at Brigham Young University in 2001. In 2003, Weston earned a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Houston. As a part of his Master’s project, he co-authored a case report entitled ‘The Effect of Manual Therapy and a Home Exercise Program on Cervicogenic Headaches: A Case Report’ in the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy. He also presented this data at the 9th Annual American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists Meeting in poster form.

After practicing for nearly a year in Washington state in a private practice outpatient orthopedic facility, he moved to Utah where has worked for Intermountain Healthcare (a large non-profit health care system). There he has been able to participate in clinical and administrative research. His first participation in clinical research was an observational study on patients with cervical pain. He presented a portion of data at on ‘The Use of Evidence-Based Treatment on Patients With Headaches: A Retrospective Study’ at the Annual Utah Chapter of the APTA meeting in 2004 as a platform. After gathering more data, he presented this data at the 2006 Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) of the APTA. He participated as a research assistant with Drs. Julie Fritz and Gerard Brennan in a randomized controlled trial that investigated the effect of mechanical traction on a homogenous group of individuals. This work is pending publication. His administrative research included a longitudinal study analyzing the effect of phone calls on attendance at the clinic he worked for. This information was presented at the CSM as a poster in 2007. His current projects include manual therapy for the hip in patients with lumbar pain. He is very interested in the spine and manual therapy treatments that may facilitate recovery.


Kaarthick Mani PT, MSPT, DPT


Picture of Kaarthick Mani Dr. Mani graduated from College of Physiotherapy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore, India in 1998 obtaining an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy. He then began his career as a clinical instructor and physiotherapist working at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, a mutli-specialty teaching hospital attached to his alma mater. He was responsible for supervising interns posted to the Department of Neurological Surgery and delivering lectures in neurology.

Dr. Mani came to the U.S. to pursue his goal to be an authority in the treatment of spinal derangements. He completed his post-professional graduate degree in orthopaedic physical therapy from Quinnipiac University, Connecticut in 2002 under the guidance of Dr. Russell Woodman, an authority in Cyriax and Mulligan manual therapy models. He worked under the supervision of Dr. Woodman for a year towards the completion of post- professional graduate education.

Kaarthick moved to Michigan and began working for an outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy clinic located in the suburbs of Detroit and specialized in the manual therapy approach. While working there, he completed his post professional residency training in orthopaedic manual therapy from the Institute of Manual Physical Therapy, Farmington, MI under the tutelage of Dr. Deepak Sebastian, an authority in the Somatic model of dysfunction. Upon graduating from the residency program, Kaarthick relocated to south-west suburbs of Chicago, IL and started to work for an outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy clinic specializing in the treatment of spinal derangements. Meanwhile, he enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program offered by the A.T. Still University of Health Sciences in Arizona and graduated in the year 2006. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) orthopaedic section and has authored articles in the health column for a leading Indian newspaper.


Shane McClinton PT, DPT, MSPT, CSCS


Picture of Shane McClinton Dr. McClinton earned his transitional doctorate (2007) and masters (2001) degrees in physical therapy from Des Moines University in Des Moines, IA. Dr. McClinton practiced as an orthopedic physical therapist at Mercy Hospital and Riverside Rehab Clinic from 2001-2003 prior to his current position at Des Moines University. Currently, he is a full time clinician in the Des Moines University Clinic specializing in orthopedic, occupational and sports physical therapy.

Dr. McClinton serves as an adjunct professor in the Physical Therapy Program at Des Moines University and is an APTA certified clinical instructor. He coordinates evaluations in Des Moines University’s Human Performance Laboratory which utilizes 3-D motion, plantar pressure, and oxygen consumption analysis technology in the assessment of amputees, athletes and certain musculoskeletal cases. Dr. McClinton also provides services specific to runners and cyclists incorporating technology of the Human Performance Laboratory with clinical and personal expertise. His involvement in the Human Performance Laboratory has led to several published abstracts, a published manuscript and several platform, poster and invited presentations.

Dr. McClinton is a member of the APTA and AAOMPT and currently serves as the team coordinator for the State Representative Network of the Sports Physical Therapy Section.


Paul Mintken PT, DPT, OCS


Picture of Paul Mintken Dr. Mintken became interested in physical therapy after sustaining multiple rugby injuries. He received his masters in physical therapy from the University of Colorado in 1994, and went on to complete his DPT at the University of Colorado in 2004.

He has been working at Wardenburg Health Center on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus since 1994, and enjoys treating patients with spinal dysfunction and biomechanical lower extremity problems. Dr. Mintken has also worked in a direct access setting for the past 10 years at the University of Colorado and for the United Parcel Service (UPS) for 4 years. He became adjunct faculty at the University of Colorado in 1997 lecturing on lower extremity pathology and foot orthotics.

In 1999, he started a private practice, Ground Works Physical Therapy Inc. that specialized in foot orthotics. Since 2004, he has taken over the role of track coordinator for the musculoskeletal content in the DPT program at the University of Colorado, and serves as the course coordinator for radiology, advanced manipulation and foot orthotics.

Dr. Mintken is board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, and has taken numerous continuing education courses in manual therapy. His desire to improve his manual skills and give back to the profession led him to the manual therapy fellowship at Regis. Dr. Mintken maintains an active research agenda in the areas of spinal and extremity manipulation, and is currently working on 3 research projects with Dr. Julie Whitman, Dr. Josh Cleland and Dr. Mike Keirns. Dr. Mintken was recently awarded a grant by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) for his research project titled “Development of a Clinical Predication Rule to Identify Patients with Shoulder Pain Likely to Benefit from Cervicothoracic Manipulation.” He has published abstracts in the journal of Physical Therapy, the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, and the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy, and has several manuscripts in review. He is the recipient of the departmental scholar award at the University of Northern Colorado, the Herb Levy Humanitarian Award in Physical Therapy and the Outstanding Clinical Instructor award at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He served for four years on the IRB for the University of Colorado at Boulder, and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). Dr. Mintken is past president and member of the board of directors of the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Alumni Association.

Dr. Mintken has a 3 year old son, 18 month old twins and a loving wife who is convinced that he would work for free. He enjoys playing guitar, reading science fiction novels and playing golf in his spare time.


Russ Overy DPT


Russ Overy, DPT Russ received his doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University as a member of the first doctoral class to graduate in the state of Colorado in 2004. His doctoral curriculum included research on the use of visual stimulation as an intervention for individuals with visual motion sensitivity, for which his research team received the 2004 Outstanding Research Award. In his last year of study Russ had the opportunity to represent Regis University internationally, completing a manual therapy clinical in Sydney, Australia.

Russ currently practices at Boulder Center for Sports Medicine (BCSM) in Boulder, Colorado. His clinical experience spans a wide range of outpatient scenarios from performance topics with elite athletes to surgical rehabilitation of elderly adults. Prior to joining BCSM, he practiced in outpatient orthopedic clinics in Steamboat Springs and Longmont, Colorado. Before receiving his doctorate Russ spent more than 3 years as a physical therapist’s assistant, working while achieving a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology.

He is a member of American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) and the American Physical Therapy Association. He is a former member of the APTA Colorado chapter professional development committee.


Shannon M. Petersen PT, DScPT, OCS, COMT


Picture of Shannon Petersen Dr. Petersen is a board certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association and a Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist. She earned her entry-level Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa and her Doctor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Dr. Petersen studied manual therapy in Perth, Australia where she earned her Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Dr. Petersen is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as its Orthopaedic section and Education section. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Dr. Petersen’s clinical practice is in outpatient orthopaedic manual physical therapy. In addition to patient care, Dr. Petersen has taught continuing education courses in manual therapy at the local and national levels. She has taught a series of courses on the Maitland approach to manual therapy and courses on manual therapy for headaches.

Dr. Petersen is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. She teaches musculoskeletal physical therapy of the spine and advanced manual therapy of the spine and extremities. Dr. Petersen’s research publications are in the area of manual therapy examination and intervention for cervicogenic headaches. Her current research interests are cervicogenic headaches, examination of neural tissue, and the association between spinal dysfunction and peripheral impairments. Activities that she enjoys include cooking and exercising. She values time spent with family; some of their hobbies together include outdoor activities, playing video games, and participating in taekwondo competitions.


Mark Randell PT, DPT, MTC


Picture of Mark Randell Mark completed his masters of Physical Therapy at Grand Valley State University in 1999. In April of 2004 he passed his manual therapy certification examination at the University of Saint Augustine. Mark graduated with a doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Augustine in May of 2005. He is currently enrolled at Regis University in the Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship program.

Mark has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1996. He has been the treasurer for the Upper Peninsula District of the Michigan Physical Therapy Association. Mark joined the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists this past year.

Mark is currently an adjunct instructor at Michigan Technological University. He will be teaching Exercise prescription and assessment for students enrolled in the Exercise Science Curriculum.

Mark has worked primarily in an outpatient orthopedic clinic for the past seven years.


David Robbins PT, OCS


Picture of David Robbins Dave graduated in 1995 from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and received his start in physical therapy upon completion of a Master’s in Physical Therapy from the U.S. Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy in 2000. Since that time he has remained an Active Duty Army physical therapist and has held numerous positions in the Army. These include Staff Physical Therapist at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, Chief of Physical Therapy at a rural community hospital at Fort Irwin, CA, and his current position, Assistant Chief of Physical Therapy at Fort Carson, CO. In addition, Dave completed a tour of duty in Baghdad, Iraq where he served as the Chief of Physical Therapy at the 10th combat support hospital.

His experiences in the army have led Dave to take a special interest in the provision of care via direct access. He practices primarily in the field of orthopaedic and sports physical therapy, and places an emphasis on manual physical therapy within an evidence-based framework.

Dave became board certified as an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist in 2003 and is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. He began working on his transitional DPT from Regis University in January 2006.

Dave is married with three children and enjoys training for and competing in triathlons in his spare time.


Jason Rodeghero PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, ATC


DESCRIPTION Jason started his physical therapy career in 2002, after completing his Masters degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He then went on to complete the manual therapy certification and transitional Doctor of Physical therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine under the guidance of Dr. Stanley Paris. Jason has achieved recognition as a board certified orthopaedic clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists. Jason has also had a substantial amount of experience in the sports medicine setting. He is a certified athletic trainer, who completed most of this training with the University of Texas Longhorn athletic department. Jason maintains active professional membership in the APTA, AAOMPT, and NATA. He practices outpatient orthopaedic manual physical therapy in a private practice located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

Jason will have his first publication this fall in the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy (2006, V14 N3). It is a case report highlighting the successful use of manual physical therapy and specific exercise intervention in the treatment of cervicogenic headaches. Jason also presented this case as a poster presentation at the 2006 Combined Sections Meeting of the APTA in San Diego, California.


Donald S. Strack PT, DPT, ATC


Picture of Donald Strack Dr. Strack graduated from the University of Indianapolis, earning his Bachelor of Science in athletic training in 2002 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2005.

Dr. Strack’s career began with the Indiana Pacers in 2002 where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for three years. After earning his doctorate, he began practice at Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Services, a private practice in Wellesley Hills, MA. This setting allowed him to practice in a direct access, cash only practice where he was able to utilize evidence-based manual therapy interventions with patients across all age ranges. In 2008, Dr. Strack accepted a position with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a basketball franchise in the NBA. As Director of Medical Services, Dr. Strack’s primary responsibility lies in treating and managing all non-surgical orthopaedic issues.

Dr. Strack is a member of the American Physical Therapy association, orthopaedic section member, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.


Eric Wilson PT, DSc, OCS, SCS, CSCS


Picture of Eric Wilson Dr. Wilson received his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in 1998 and his Doctor of Science in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2001. His doctoral dissertation, which investigated the effectiveness of manual therapy for the treatment of low back pain, was published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy in September 2003. He has also published articles in Physical Therapy Case Reports and the Journal of Strength and Conditioning as well as a chapter on the use of manual therapy in the physical therapy setting in Dr. Leon Chaitow’s 3rd edition of Muscle Energy Techniques. He has also presented at APTA conferences at the national, state and local level. His professional interests include performing EMG & NCV tests, manual therapy, and upper quarter rehabilitation.

Dr. Wilson was the first U.S. Air Force physical therapist to graduate from the U.S. Army’s Flight Surgeon course and is one of approximately 50 physical therapists in the nation to attain Board Certifications in both Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Sports Physical Therapy. He is a former member of the Specialization Academy of Content Experts where he wrote questions for the national sports physical therapy certification board and has served as a peer-reviewer for Physical Therapy and the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical. Dr. Wilson is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Wilson has been on faculty at the University of Richmond and Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, has lectured at the USAF Academy and has taught injury prevention in the industrial setting as well. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Sections on Sports and Hand Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

His work as a civilian and Air Force physical therapist have predominantly been in the sports medicine and direct access settings. This has afforded him the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients to include industrial rehabilitation, high school and collegiate athletes, special operations forces and professional football, baseball, and hockey players. Prior to working as a physical therapist, Dr. Wilson was a paratrooper with the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. As an infantry sergeant, he served as a scout/sniper team leader and a rifle squad leader and fought in Iraq during Gulf War I. Dr. Wilson is a Major in the United States Air Force and currently serves as the Physical Therapy Flight Commander at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas.


Dexter Witt PT, DPT, MHS, OCS, CSCS


Dexter Witt, PT, DPT, MHS, OCS, CSCS Dr. Witt is board certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He is currently a tenured associate professor at the University of Cincinnati were he teaches in both the PT and PTA Programs. Dr. Witt was program director for the PTA program at the University of Cincinnati for several years until he relinquished the position to purse a DPT. He received his clinical doctorate in physical therapy in 2003. He remains clinically active in a hospital based outpatient clinic were he sees patients at least two days a week. Dr. Witt is also a graduate student in the Doctorate of Health Science program at the University of Indianapolis. His primary clinical and research interest is in upper extremity therapy and related disorders. He is currently involved in research on scapular musculature EMG activity during PNF patterns and the effects of exercise on post surgical breast cancer patients.

Dr. Witt is a long standing member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a member of the organization’s orthopedic, sports and education sections. In addition he is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
