Create a public sphere where businesses, nonprofits, academics, students and citizens can discuss and debate the theories and practices of a free enterprise system. In the classroom and the community, the Sullivan program will ensure the discussion of free enterprise explores value-based solutions, advocates socially conscious business practices and represents the points of view of under served communitites.
Every 12 to 18 months the John J. Sullivan Endowed Chair for Free Enterprise will focus on a “hot topic” related to free enterprise. The topic for 2005-2006 was Health Care and Free Enterprise.
In November of 2005, the Sullivan Chair hosted a series of speakers and conversations on Free Enterprise and Health Care.
In 2006, The Sullivan Chair transitioned to the topic of Poverty and Free Enterprise; we will bring authors and speakers to campus to stimulate dialogue with Regis University faculty, staff and students as well as business and community members on the topic of Free Enterprise and Poverty.
Chris Lowney, the author of Heroic Leadership: Best Practices From a 450-Year-Old Company that Changed the World, will speak on how the four leadership principles that were inspired by the Jesuits, can mold business leaders in the twenty-first century. After living seven years as a Jesuit seminarian, Chris went to work for JP Morgan & Co., eventually serving as managing director. As a result of his atypical background, Chris is able to effectively address the leadership challenges that test great companies today. Join us as Chris relates how to live leadership instead of just talking about it.
The talk is sponsored by the John J. Sullivan Endowed Chair for Free Enterprise at Regis University and Ashoka, The Largest Association of Social Entrepreneurs. For additional information, on this highly anticipated, free talk, please contact Beth Parish at bparish@regis.edu or 303-458-4368
