The Learning Contract Form is the documentation needed for enrollment in a Special, Extended, or Independent Study course. Only Regis College students and faculty may fill out the online Learning Contract Form. You will need to work with the instructor with whom you intend to take the course in order to complete this form. If the instructor approves the learning contract, he or she will complete and submit the form to the Academic Dean on your behalf. This form should be completed by the instructor who will be teaching the requested course. To the Instructor Please include all requested information including the syllabus. Include a brief description of the syllabus (250 words or less) in the space provided on the form AND send a complete syllabus to the Regis College Dean's Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Definitions Special Study: A normally scheduled course that is not available at a time or location feasible for timely completion of a graduation requirement. The course prefix, number and title are the same as the regularly scheduled course. Course requirements are fulfilled under the supervision of a faculty member who is approved to teach the course. Extended Study: Provides a means for students to earn credit in addition to the existing credit for a course. The course prefix, number and title are the same as the course listed in the Bulletin. Extended study requirements are fulfilled under the supervision of a faculty member who teaches the course. Independent Study: Individually supervised research under the direction of a faculty member in a discipline or topic of study not covered in a scheduled course. Approval and registration must occur prior to the add/drop deadline. The course number used is 490 for the undergraduate level and 690 for the graduate level. If a course number does not exist for a given prefix area, an experimental course form must be submitted with this form. PLEASE NOTE: The Associate Dean and your advisor will have to approve this learning contract as well. In the event that either party does not approve the learning contract, you may be dropped from the course.
