Who

Students enrolled in full-time, campus-based programs within Regis College may apply for study abroad programs. Certain eligibility criteria must be met, including being in good academic, financial and disciplinary standing at Regis University. Students must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA (3.2 for pre-nursing students) at the time of the application deadline.

Please remember: You don't have to be "perfect" to be eligible to study abroad. Even if your GPA, academic integrity or student conduct record isn't the best, please apply anyway. The Study Abroad Selection Committee takes the whole person into consideration when making decisions.

When

Students may study abroad during their junior year. Fall study abroad is encouraged, with greater chances of placement in your top choice programs. Pre-nursing majors may study abroad during the spring semester of their sophomore year. Students who meet certain criteria may appeal to study abroad during the fall semester of their senior year.

Students may elect to study abroad for a full year, provided their study abroad program is the same for two consecutive semesters.

Study abroad may be more affordable than you think! Some study abroad programs cost about the same as staying at Regis for a semester.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! In order to graduate on time, it's important that you select a program that offers the necessary courses for you to continue your studies.

The first step is to talk to your academic advisor to determine the best time for you to go abroad, as well as the courses you'll need to take during your study abroad program to maintain progress toward graduation. After speaking with your academic advisor, schedule an appointment with a Study Abroad Advisor to find programs that will work for you.

Every student who participates in the Regis University study abroad program must enroll in and complete RCC440A the semester prior to their semester abroad; RCC 440B during the semester abroad; and 440C upon the semester of their return to Regis - regardless of the college or program in which the student is enrolled, and regardless of whether or not a student has already fulfilled the RCC430 Search for Meaning core requirement.

The sequence of RCC440A, B, and C will fulfill the RCC430 Search for Meaning requirement or an Upper Division Elective (pre-nursing majors).

Please note: Each course is worth one credit, and students must plan to include this credit in the total number of credits (not to exceed 18) they can register for in each semester.

Whether you will need to apply for a student visa will depend upon the duration of your program and your destination country’s immigration requirements. The process can be confusing because visa regulations vary greatly by country and requirements frequently change. You should ask your program provider or your host institution’s International Office staff about the visa requirements for your program. You are responsible for meeting all of the deadlines and requirements for obtaining your student visa (if applicable). Here is a general overview of the student visa application process

Visit the CDC’s travel guide to see what vaccines, immunizations or other measures you can take to prepare for a safe and healthy experience abroad.

You are required to provide proof that you have both travel insurance, which covers things such as lost baggage, cancelled flights and some emergency or accidental medical needs, as well as international medical coverage, which covers illnesses and medical issues that do not fall in the category of an accident or an emergency. All study abroad students are responsible for obtaining adequate travel and medical insurance coverage while abroad. Some program providers offer travel insurance for the duration of the program. Students who wish to travel before, during or after the program should purchase additional insurance to cover non-program related travel.
