Ranger Men's Soccer Player Martin Maybin Selected RMAC Preseason Player of the Year

Colorado Springs, Colo.:The Regis Ranger men's soccer team was voted to finish atop the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after nabbing a regular season conference title in the 2013 season and reaching the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
The RMAC release revealed the Ranger men earned 60 points and five first place votes from conference opponents. Colorado Mesa came in second with 52 total points and three first place votes. Regis dropped a heartbreaker to Colorado Mesa in the RMAC Tournament Championship last season with a 2-1 double overtime loss. Colorado Mines follows next receiving one first place vote.
The 2013 Ranger squad finished with an overall record of 14-4-1 and 11-2-1 in the RMAC and hopes of a three-peat atop the RMAC.
Senior forward Martin Maybin (Belfast, Northern Ireland) received the conference's highest preseason award earning RMAC Preseason Player of the Year. Maybin was awarded Daktronics Second Team and NSCAA Third Team All-America honors in 2013. Maybin ranked second in the RMAC with 17 goals scored and 2.39 points per match. He led the conference with nine assists and tied a single season school record with 43 points. Maybin was also named First Team All-RMAC and to the RMAC All-Tournament Team.
Senior midfielder Arnthor Kristinsson (Akranes, Iceland) was also honored on the Preseason All-RMAC Team. Kristinsson netted seven goals, one game-winner, and three assists to finish the year with 17 points and a .543 shot on goal percentage.
After back-to-back RMAC titles the Rangers will open their season on Friday, September 12th
on the road at Rogers State at 8 p.m.
