Regis will again welcome the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) to its Northwest Denver Campus on Feb. 9.

FTC focuses on engaging students in grades 7-12 in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Teams compete head to head and are responsible for designing, building and programming their robots. The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Regis Field House.

Last year’s event at Regis drew more than 300 competitors; the winners advanced to a regional tournament.

Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on credible engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition, as well as for community outreach, design and other real-world accomplishments.

Follow #RegisRobots on social media to get a behind-the-scenes look at the action, along with a special Regis University Facebook Live session beginning at 1 p.m. MST.
