Regis University prepares for return to in-person classes this fall

In-person Orientation for new students and Spring Break to be reinstated

Regis University has announced it plans to return to a normal academic schedule, which includes in-person instruction and exams, for traditional students in fall 2021. These plans are predicated on a continuing downward trend in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, the upward trend in vaccinations and continued approval by local and state public health departments.

Orientation for new students will be held Aug. 19-22, and fall classes will begin Aug. 23. Following Christmas and Winter Break, classes for traditional students will resume on Jan. 10, 2022, and Spring Break will be reinstated in 2022 as well. View the 2021-22 Academic calendars for more information.

Hybrid classes and those that were held virtually during the past year due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will return to in-person instruction across the University’s three Denver campuses. Online and health profession programs will continue as normal.

“We are more than ready to get back to the new normal on our campuses,” said Regis University President the Rev. John P. Fitzgibbons, S.J. “This does not mean we are out of the woods when it comes to COVID-19. We must remain vigilant and respectful in our social distancing and wearing masks. We must remain optimistic that 70 percent or better of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated by summer.”

The University also has announced it will conduct in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies for spring 2021 graduates of its undergraduate, masters and doctorate programs. The University will hold four separate graduation ceremonies over three days – April 30, May 1 and 2 – as well as complementary nurses pinning, honorary society induction and other graduation-related events on Boettcher Commons at its Northwest Denver Campus. Each ceremony is designed for up to 500 graduates and 1,000 guests. Seating will be socially distanced and all participants must be masked.

Livestreaming will be available for those who are unable or do not wish to attend in person.
