AP, IB and College Credit

Regis awards credit for College Board Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), and International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. In addition, Regis will evaluate coursework completed at a college or university on an individual basis.

Advanced Placement (AP)
Advanced Placement is a national program which allows students to complete college-level studies in their secondary schools.

International Baccalaureate (IB)
International Baccalaureate is an international program which allows students to complete college-level studies in their secondary schools. Regis University awards credit only for exams taken at the Higher Level.

College Course Work
Transfer credit is awarded for college-level work completed at other colleges and universities that are accredited by a regional accrediting association [e.g., Higher Learning Commission (HLC)]. See the credit requirements for undergraduate- and graduate-level coursework below.

DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests)
The United States Department of Defense's Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) Subject Standardized Test (DSST) program is a national standardized exam and Regis University follows The American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for minimum passing scores required and semester hours awarded for DSST examinations.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
CLEP is a national exam. Regis University follows the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for minimum passing scores required and semester hours awarded for CLEP Subject Examinations.

National League of Nursing (NLN) Exams
Regis University accepts credit from NLN Achievement exams for the subjects of Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and Normal Nutrition.

DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST)

The United States Department of Defense's Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) program is a national standardized exam. Regis University follows The American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for minimum passing scores required and semester hours awarded for DANTES/DSST examinations. Regis College students must obtain prior approval from the Regis College Academic Dean. All students, please check with your advisor to make sure the exam you take meets your specific degree requirement.

DSST exam passing scores and awarded credit amount are subject to change. Please check with your advisor or Records and Registration if you have questions.

National League of Nursing (NLN) Exams

Regis University accepts credit from NLN Achievement exams for the subjects of Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and Normal Nutrition. Students must follow the instructions below for proper test-taking conditions and reporting of test scores.

  • Locate a test center near you through the NLN website.
  • Send the testing center’s contact information to Student Disability Services & University Testing (SDS/UT) at disability@regis.edu.
  • Once this email is received, SDS/UT will send written authorization to NLN for exam purchase and proctor agreement. The student will be notified once this authorization request has been sent.
  • Order and purchase the exam with an NLN order form, RN Test Order Form. Make sure to note Regis University 6-digit ID #: 346479. Once your order has been placed, an NLN exam code will be emailed to you. Please take this code with you on the day of testing.
  • Once the exam is completed, notify Student Disability Services & University Testing via email at disability@regis.edu to access the test score report for recording purposes.
