Master of Education | Initial Licensure
Designed for those who want to make a difference in the lives of students grades 7-12, our curriculum covers a wide base of topics within the education field, from foundational teaching methods to diversity and inclusion in the classroom. You’ll gain a thorough foundation of common and unique teaching pedagogy before teaching in a local classroom for a semester. By graduation, you’ll feel confident and capable of leading a middle or high school classroom, and you’ll be prepared to take the state licensure exam.

Students complete 200 field hours while completing their course work, gaining valuable hands-on experience and skills along the way. Student teaching requires full-time enrollment in the program and must be completed at an accredited institution within the state of Colorado. Some student teaching programs will help offset the cost of student teaching or pay you to student teach. Regis has over 100 partner schools and will work to pair you with the right grade level in a supportive atmosphere.
As a part of the program, you must successfully take the state licensure examination to student teach in one of our partner schools. We will support and recommend you through this process. After completing your field hours in a Colorado school and upon completion of student teaching, you can apply for licensure in Colorado through the Colorado Department of Education with our recommendation.
Examines issues in education pertaining to areas such as culturally and linguistical diverse education, special education, race and ethnicity, language, religion, socioeconomic status and ability or disability.
Studies curriculum, methods and strategies for teaching content-area specific subjects. Content areas include business, drama, English, art, foreign language, math, social studies, science or speech.
Explores the creation of a classroom that supports individual and collaborative learning, and considers current legislation related to management techniques to ensure inclusive learning environments.
