Sarah Kellner honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association
July 30, 2019
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association named Regis University’s Sarah Kellner coach of the year for the Midwest region of Division II women’s lacrosse.
The honor comes on the heels of a historic season for the Rangers. The team’s 20-1 record was the best single-season finish in program history and the highest winning percentage in Division II women’s lacrosse this season.
“I think the award is really nice, but I think it’s more special what we were able to accomplish as a team, the relationships that I've watched grow and the way these athletes just pushed themselves to give everything they had,” Kellner said.
During the historic season, the Rangers went undefeated in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play and made their second-straight trip to the national semifinals of the Division II NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
“I hope [this season’s success] continues to create buzz about lacrosse in the West, specifically at Regis and in Denver,” Kellner said. “We have great athletes and lacrosse players, awesome families that support us and a really special alumni group who continue to support the program.”
