With renovations underway on the DeSmet Hall upgrades and addition, and construction traffic buzzing around, you might not notice Physical Plant’s other campus projects.
Below is a list of summer projects Physical Plant is currently working on.
The existing space is being renovated, including receiving new paint, carpet and drinking fountains; the restrooms are getting upgraded and magnetic dry-erase boards are being installed in each public space.
O’Connell Hall Residence Life Office Renovation:
Residence Life and Housing will relocate from its current modular to a newly renovated space on the first floor of O’Connell Hall by mid-June. The existing modular will remain and minor renovations will be completed to support the new Athletic Training Center and Berce Air Dome.
Diversity Relocation to second floor of Student Center:
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence will move to the second floor of the Student Center by early August.
Energy Management System Server Replacement:
This new system upgrades the storage capacity and will allow Physical Plant to perform at least five years into the future with the system. The work will be completed early this summer.
Berce Air Dome Infrastructure support project:
This will upgrade utilities to get gas and electrical connections, along with storm water runoff capabilities, to the dome. This is projected to be completed by the end of the year.
Student Center Renovation:
The canopy at the front east side will be removed, exterior lighting will be added, and the existing brick plaza on the south side will be expanded to the north side. New flower planting units will be installed along the front of the building. Windows on the east side of the building will be replaced. When students return in the fall, Main Café will be completely renovated to include a new faculty dining lounge.
