Whether you’re just out of high school, seeking a professional degree or returning to school mid-career, Regis strives to lighten the load with support for both the academic journey and your wellbeing. Here are just some of the lesser-known perks that can benefit any Regis student.
1. Writing Consultation
Whether it’s a personal statement, class essay or master’s thesis, you can get help through The Writing Center (Clarke 241). Meet with professional writing coaches in person or schedule a Web-based critique. Or, if you prefer, compose and upload up to a 200-word paragraph for a quick review via Smarthinking.
2. Learning Assessments and In-Person Tutoring
Whether you need help keeping up or simply want to get ahead, you can access resources and professional assistance through The Learning Commons (Clarke 241). Free services include learning assessments, one-on-one tutoring, small group academic support and assistance for ESL/ELL students. Although you can walk in, making an appointment is recommended.
3. Virtual Tutoring
Smarthinking connects you with certified expert tutors in a range of subjects whenever and wherever you need. Drop in online for live tutoring, preschedule sessions with your favorite tutor, browse the archives of past tutoring sessions or submit a question to be answered in 24 hours.
4. Technical Support
Pros are on hand to help resolve most any technology issue you encounter, from improving slow run speed to destroying harmful viruses to troubleshooting operating and other system issues. On the Northwest Denver Campus, go to Carroll Hall to see Ranger Tech Services (Room 1) or the ITS Help Center (Room 9). From elsewhere, visit the ITS Online Help Center or call 303.458.4050.
5. Your Own Personal Librarian
Don’t be intimidated by the university library system — or the librarians. You can chat with a librarian around the clock to discern the finer points about scholarly journals, the interlibrary loan process and lots more.
6. Free Rides
Need to borrow a bike or get yours repaired? Look no further than Cycle Works, where you can check out bikes or have your own bike serviced at no charge (not including the cost of parts).
7. Personal Training
Did you know the Regis University Fitness Center features a bouldering wall, group classes (including spin, yoga, boot camp and others), personal training and free membership?
8. Desktop Computing
No laptop? No worries. Access the desktop computers made available to students — often 24/7 — across the Regis campuses: Broomfield (27), Colorado Springs (24), Denver Tech Center (38), Northwest Denver (104, plus an additional 63 in the library) and Thornton (66). Bonus: Print and copy for free. Access your semester allowance from any campus computer.
9. Microsoft Office Professional Plus and Anti-Virus Software
Get the full-featured versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher and OneNote, along with anti-virus software for both PCs and Macs, through Regis’ Information Technology Services, better known as ITS.
10. Time with Nature
Enjoy the outdoors more with free equipment from the Outdoor Adventure Program. Your ID gets you access to backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, backcountry/avalanche kit, lanterns, trekking poles and other miscellaneous adventure gear. What’s not to love about that?
