Professional Bio

Heidi Pitlor has been the series editor of The Best American Short Stories since 2007, working with such authors as Alice Sebold, Richard Russo, Salman Rushdie, Elizabeth Strout and Junot Diaz. She published her first novel, The Birthdays (W.W. Norton) in 2006, and her second, The Daylight Marriage (Algonquin Books), in 2015. She is currently working on her third novel. Her writing has also appeared in PloughsharesThe Huffington PostThe Boston Globe, The New York Times and elsewhere. She lives outside Boston. Heidi enjoys working with students on fiction that is strong on character, voice, and story.
