As coordinator of simulation and skills labs, it is imperative that I work with Regis faculty to develop a learning environment that facilitates student development in a way that promotes higher level thinking, incorporates the whole patient approaches and respect for various lifestyles, priorities and preferences.  Students can read a book, listen to a lecture and have a foundational understanding of nursing content. Simulation and skills labs are designed to challenge students to complete competent actions based on their foundational knowledge. Our simulations provide a structured environment for students to practice and hone their communication skills to better serve their future patients. Our standardized patients (medical actors) and high fidelity manikins prepare students for the challenges nurses are facing in our current medical arenas.
