Jeffrey McCray

Jeffrey McCray joined the faculty of Regis University as the Instructor of Bassoon in 2025. He serves in a similar position at Metropolitan State University of Denver and Colorado Mesa University. He serves as Principal Bassoon of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, and he is a member of the bassoon section of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. For 17 seasons, he was Principal Bassoon of the Lincoln (NE) Symphony Orchestra. He has performed extensively as a guest with orchestras throughout the United States, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Omaha Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Colorado Ballet and Opera Delaware.

Dr. McCray has previously held teaching positions at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, Baylor University, Western Michigan University, Colorado State University Pueblo, University of Michigan-Flint, Albion College and Chadron State College. His primary bassoon teachers were Robert Barris, Bernard Garfield and Michael Kroth, and he holds degrees from Northwestern University, Temple University and Michigan State University.
