Born in Canton, OH, Ricardo's journey from Mexico to the US is a testament to his unwavering dedication to his profession. Educated in Catholic schools, he obtained his Doctorate in Medicine at La Salle University in Mexico City and specialized in general surgery and surgical oncology. His successful practice, which included clinical, administrative, research, and academic duties in the city of Aguascalientes, in the center of Mexico, reflects his passion and commitment.
In 2015, he obtained a master’s degree in public health at the University of Colorado, and since 2016, he has been active in advocating for underserved populations through Servicios de La Raza with an office at the Mexican Consulate in Denver. Since 2018, he has taught at the College of Health and Applied Sciences at the Metropolitan State University of Denver.
During the pandemic, through Servicios de La Raza, with a Mobile Health Unit provided by the Mexican Government, he has traveled throughout the State to provide COVID-19 vaccines to more than 15000 hard to reach individuals.
Since 2018 he has been a community member of the Partnership of Academicians and Community for Translation (PACT) council for the Colorado Clinical and Translation Institute (CCTSI) at the University of Colorado and has been a community P.I. for the Colorado Community Engagement Alliance for Health Equity funded by the NIH since 2020. He enjoys the study of Medical Humanities as can be seen in multiple peer-reviewed publications on the history of medicine and bioethics. Ricardo is currently a PhD candidate in bioethics.
