John Piccirillo

John Piccirillo is a Career Development Specialist who joined the team in 2022 and completed an internship as a Career Counselor Intern at the CCPD during the 2018-2019 school year. In 2019 John graduated from CU Denver with an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling on the Multicultural Counseling Track. John aspires to form a practice that is just and humane, rooted in Relational Cultural Therapy and Career Construction models, and incorporating Emancipatory Career Theories. Through these lenses, people are seen as culturally-anchored meaning makers whose life project is the ongoing construction of the self from stories, experiences, and relationships. This approach emphasizes building critical consciousness, naming oppressive social forces, and seeking support—allies, collaborators, and companions.
