Dr. Álvaro González Alba is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at Regis University in Denver. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in Spain, where he studied education, language teaching and second language acquisition. He later completed his Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside, where his dissertation examined identity construction and sociolinguistic interactions among Spanish speakers on social media platforms.
His research interests include the use of AI in pedagogy, teaching strategies, language attitudes and ideologies toward Spanish speakers, and the ethical dimensions of social media research. In addition, as part of several projects, Dr. González also investigates bilingualism, pedagogies for teaching Spanish to heritage speakers, and indigenous languages of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
