Emily Stones

Emily Stones marches to the beat of continuous improvement, believing that our shared lives are better when we remain open to new ideas, varied experiences, and change. She is drawn to research that seeks out creative solutions and alternative processes to address injustice. She has a specific interest in disability nonprofit organizations that use their collective voice to promote disability pride, work for rights, and build community. She has years of experience teaching organizational communication, nonprofit communication, and small group communication. In these classes, Emily emphasizes the importance of a value-centered workforce. She encourages students to look beneath the shiny surface of corporate branding to see the effect of their tactics (both good and bad) on who and what society should be. Emily wants students to see their own agency and influence in the world and, thus, reflect on their capacities for reform and change.
