Krista L. Scorsone

Dr. Scorsone earned her PhD from the University of New Mexico and then pursued a Health Services Research & Development Fellowship at Denver-Seattle Center of Innovation for Veteran-Centered and Value-Driven Care, Denver, CO

Dr. Scorsone’s research interests include studying system- and patient-level barriers to accessing mental health and substance abuse treatment in rural communities. Her focus is on developing innovative strategies to address the opioid epidemic, facilitate care delivery to marginalized populations, and address the disparities in treatment for opioid use disorder experienced by underserved communities.

Dr. Scorsone’s activities over the past decade as a nurse, researcher, and professor have been closely aligned with the value system upon which the Regis University mission is founded.

Her teaching philosophy centers around the values of integrity, genuineness, inclusivity, professionalism, and respect for others. In the classroom, she embraces reciprocal learning; the instructor and the student can build learning synergy when they embrace differences and feel comfortable to explore new ideas. Striving for excellence in this context sets the stage for students to realize their true intellectual capabilities.
