Patricia L. Cullen

Dr. Cullen is Professor and Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies in the School of Nursing at Regis University. During her tenure at Regis University she has also served as Chair of the Institutional Review Board in addition to her academic duties. She serves as the lead of the doctoral and master’s nurse practitioner programs at Regis University and developed and implemented the first master’s family nurse practitioner program serving rural Colorado utilizing synchronous ZOOM™ technology. Dr. Cullen also served as the Vice-President of the Colorado State Board of Nursing, Chair of the Discipline Panel, and represented the Board on the Governor-appointed Nurse-Physician Advisory Task Force for Colorado Health Care (NPATCH) from 2009-2015.

In the area of research, Dr. Cullen has been an investigator in the Children’s Oncology Group, the NCI-sponsored pediatric clinical trials group, since 1981. In that capacity she has served as the Vice-Chair of the Nursing Discipline, has served as the nurse investigator on multiple pediatric cancer clinical trials focusing on the care and treatment of children with central nervous system tumors, and has many publications covering treatment advances in this area and the late effects of radiation therapy on functional status, behavior, executive function, and quality of life in this population. She is currently serving as Project Director for HRSA Grant UD7HP37637 (A Rural Colorado Collaborative to Expand and Integrate Behavioral Healthcare). Dr. Cullen has been the recipient of the Doris Beister Leadership Award from Sigma Theta Tau international, the Lederle Oncology Nurse Practitioner Practice Award, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners 2017 State Award for Excellence, and the Sustained Scholarship Award from Regis University.
