Neonatal Physician Assistant - Certificate
It is the responsibility of the applicant to plan ahead to ensure that all parts of the application are submitted. It is best to apply by December 1. Monitor your application status to ensure that all parts of the application arrive on time (including transcripts and letters of recommendation, along with all other components of the application).
Application Requirements
- Application: Complete the Graduate Application
- Request official university and/or college transcripts to be sent directly to Regis University.
- Official transcript from an accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC-PA) with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0

- Official transcripts must come from your institution directly to Regis University.
- Regis accepts electronic transcripts from the following services: Scrip-Safe, Docufide, Avow Systems.
- Submit three recommendations.
- Select professional references, that are knowledgeable about the applicant’s academic, professional and leadership potential. One recommendation must be from an employer or supervisor. The Regis University recommendation forms must be used; once you submit an application, your recommender will receive the form via email.
- Submit (upload) a current resume noting professional NICU experience.
- Submit a current resume including all professional and volunteer experience.
- Note evidence of experience or job offer in a neonatal intensive care unit.
Materials in support of an application for admission become the property of Regis University and will not be provided or returned to an applicant.
Eligibility and Ranking
Applicants seeking a Neonatal Physician Assistant Certificate must possess a master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program. This program has a competitive admissions process where students are selected based on a number of factors, including cumulative GPA, current resume, three recommendation forms, and work experience.
- A physician assistant master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Minimum master’s degree cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Evidence of experience or job offer in a neonatal intensive care unit with ability to complete clinical hours in that location.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care professionals certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or Neonatal Advance Life Support (NALS).
- Eligibility for this program is pending the successful completion of a drug screening and a criminal background check. Please contact us for more information or view the complete list of Disqualifying Offenses.
- A complete health history and physical examination record indicating that the student is physically able to meet the objectives of the program, and is appropriately immunized, is required after admission to the program.
- If English is not your native/first language, you must meet one of the following language proficiency requirements:
- 1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- Internet-based: Minimum score of 82 (24 Writing, 20 Speaking, 22 Reading, 16 Listening)
- Computer-based: Minimum score of 213

- 2. Applicants who have successfully completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited US institution do not need to provide a TOEFL score.
Program Exceptions
Due to regulatory requirements in the states listed below, Regis University’s Loretto Heights School of Nursing is unable to accept or enroll students who intend to reside and/or do clinicals in any of these states while pursuing MS Nursing, Post-Graduate Certificate, or DNP education through any of our distance learning formats.
