About our Organizer:

Maria Alejandra Quijada is an associate professor of management and leadership at Regis University. She teaches classes in management, leadership, diversity and women in business. She completed her Ph.D. in management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her areas of expertise include organizational change, culture, issues for women in business and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Quijada holds a master of science in Engineering Economic Systems and Operations Research from Stanford University. Her work experience includes the telecommunication, lottery, and consumer product industries.

About our Speakers:

This year's conference features three professionals sharing research, challenges and self-care strategies for hardworking women in any field or career stage.


Laurie Fonken, Ph.D., LPC

Laurie Fonken is the owner of Whole Vets, LLC, where she consults with and provides educational resources to veterinary professionals to help them strengthen their wellbeing through the practice of healthy resilience and engagement.

Fonken has been an educator and psychotherapist for more than 35 years and has experience supporting medical and veterinary professionals. For the past 12 years she has been Director of Counseling and Wellness Programs for doctor of veterinary medicine students in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University.

Elizabeth Grassi, Ph.D.

Elizabeth Grassi joined the Regis faculty as a specialist in culturally and linguistically diverse education in 2003. In 2010, she was named the Regis College Faculty Lecturer of the Year and presented a speech on “Re-defining Quality in Education.”

Grassi is an International Certified Mindfulness Teacher (IMTA) and conducts semester-long mindfulness classes at Regis. While pursuing mindfulness teacher certification, she took a leave of absence to develop the first state-certified mindfulness-based teacher licensure program for a Buddhist-inspired university.


Jolene Clark

Jolene Clark is the founder and chief people whisperer at Redhead Momentum, a consulting practice focused on helping leaders build and strengthen healthy teams. She has 20 years’ experience helping Fortune 500, startup, and small- to mid-size businesses transform how they get things done and how they navigate change. She has served clients in global healthcare, global beverage, tech, affordable housing, big box retail, local small business, and budding entrepreneurs.

She believes organizations grow when the people in them grow first. She also is a passionate catalyst for lifting women up in their careers through coaching and mentoring, including negotiating and influencing in order to help women get paid what they're worth.

Clark earned her Master of Education in Instructional Design and Curriculum Development from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a Bachelor of Arts in communications from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
