Laura Thompson received her bachelor’s in Communication Studies/Business Administration from the University of San Diego in 1990. She earned a master’s in Counseling and Educational Psychology with an emphasis in College Student Development from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1998. Laura completed her doctorate in Counseling and Counselor Education and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Addiction Studies at Syracuse University in 2015. Prior to coming to Regis University, Laura spent three years working in the Counseling Center at Syracuse University. She has worked with students in college settings, both nationally and internationally, since 1994.

As a counselor, Laura maintains a humanistic and integrative approach, and is passionate about helping students navigate the many challenges inherent in the college experience. Her areas of interest include substance abuse, college student mental health, mindfulness and intercultural adjustment.
