Why do I need to install Java to use online forms?

Regis University recently began using a new technology for online forms. If you need to fill out and submit any online forms for the university, you need to have the latest version of the Java software package (currently Java 7) installed on your computer.

What is Java?

Java is a programming language and computing platform first released by Sun Microsystems (now Oracle) in 1995. Java software is required for many applications and websites to work correctly on your computer (or at all). Java is fast, secure and reliable.

Why do I need Java?

To fill out and submit online forms for Regis University, you need to have the latest version of the Java software package installed on your computer (currently Java 7).

Does Java cost anything?

The Java software package is free to download and install on your computer.

  • Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) or later.
  • Administrator privileges for installation
  • A 64-bit browser such as Safari or Firefox is required to run Java 7 on Mac OS X. All 32-bit browsers such as Chrome do not support Java 7 on the Mac platform.
