April Samaras joined the College of Contemporary Liberal Studies as an assistant professor of communications and program coordinator for the UG and MA Communications programs in 2014. Her primary areas of teaching include interpersonal, family, emotions in communication and conflict, oral communication and persuasion. Research interests include environmental communication, coping with grief, loss and trauma, and the social, and philosophical dimensions that prevent supportive communication. Her instructional philosophy blends both theory and rhetoric with practical scenarios in order to empower students to become successful and mindful global citizens. April is an established communications professional with more than 15 years of experience in recruiting, training and coaching and development. She is a life-long learner with a passion for teaching others.
