Nondiscrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy

Title IX Information

Drug and Alcohol Policy

As a part of Regis University's student conduct process around violations of the drug and alcohol policy, students may be referred to Counseling Services for mandated substance use psycho-educational intervention. If a student has decided to complete their mandated substance use treatment off-campus and/or is required to do so because of factors such as the time in the semester, non-compliance issues or severity of the abuse, the off-campus provider will need to complete a Mandated Substance Use Treatment Form to document that the assessment and psycho-education involved with this process has been appropriately addressed. When students violate an alcohol or drug policy at Regis University, very often they will be mandated to attend an educational workshop and/or complete a substance use assessment and education consultation with a staff member in Counseling Services.

During these meetings, students will meet with a mental health professional and complete a series of questionnaires, review educational information related to their substance use, explore decision-making tendencies, and develop harm reduction behavioral strategies to decrease their risk in the future.

Mandated Substance Use Policy

We use a brief, focused intervention method to decrease the likelihood of repeat high-risk behavior. Our object is to help students make less-risky choices in their substance use or to abstain from using altogether.

Repeat Offenders

For those students who display repeated substance abuse behaviors and/or are deemed high risk by our mental health professional staff, off campus assessment/treatment will be recommended. If students are referred for off campus treatment, the costs of such treatment will be assumed by the student.

Off Campus Treatment

If a student has decided to complete their mandated substance use treatment off campus and/or is required to do so due to the time in the semester, non-compliance issues or severity of the abuse, the off campus provider will need to complete a Mandated Substance Use Treatment Form to document that the assessment and psycho-education involved with this process has been appropriately addressed. Faculty and Staff Awareness

Faculty and staff members are on the "front lines" they are often the first to notice when a student is in distress or is struggling emotionally. If you are ever concerned about the safety of a student you are working with, you have several options of how to seek assistance:

  1. Any signs/concerns of imminent danger, call campus safety (on the Lowell campus) at 303.458.4122 or on satellite campuses, call 911.
  2. If it is during regular office hours, call Counseling Services at 303.458.3558 and seek assistance/consultation.
  3. If it is after hours or on the weekends, you may call our main phone line at 303.458.3558 to speak to a licensed mental health therapist
  4. If you have concerns about the safety of a student or other campus concerns that are not imminent (but still concerning) please contact 303.458.4086 for more assistance or complete the ‘Faculty/Staff Concern for Student Report Form’ on Webadvisor.

In cases where you are concerned about a student whose grades have dropped, is obviously not working up to his/her potential, seems to be experiencing repeated and prolonged medical issues and is overall not engaging in academic progress, we would encourage you to notify your Academic Dean with these concerns or complete the "Academic Concern Form" on Webadvisor. By "cutting students a break," the student may never reach the appropriate, administrative staff who can talk with the student about all of the concerns presented and provide the student with necessary services.
