With hit TV shows like Shark Tank filling the airwaves, self-obsessed entrepreneurs like Elon and Kylie blowing up your social media feed, and dime-a-dozen lifestyle tomes weighing down bookstore shelves, it seems like everyone is on the hunt for that sweet, sweet venture capital these days. It all seems a bit tacky, doesn’t it?
Fortunately, there are plenty of creative people out there who want no part of the “wantrepreneur” circus. These folks have business ideas that are not only desirable, feasible and viable, but also contribute to the wellbeing of their communities. They aim to solve big problems that are worth solving.
At Regis University, we’re in the business of helping our students launch their own businesses. The Anderson College of Business is home to the Innovation Center, established in 2015 and designed to bring together students, faculty, alumni and the community to design solutions for an ever-changing world. We embrace and cultivate creativity, and are dedicated to giving our students the opportunity to see their dreams come to fruition.
Do you have a great business concept? Students, faculty and alumni are invited to create or join a team in our Innovation Challenge, where the winners can earn up to $10,000 and a co-working space for their nascent business. Finalists in the competition receive mentoring and have access to the Innovation Challenge team and resources throughout the spring 2020 semester, allowing them to evolve their businesses and prepare for a final competitive pitch in August.
