Brittany Portman studies under the Applied Craft Brewing Certificate at Regis University

Four years ago, 2017 graduate Brittany Portman tasted her first sour beer.

“It was the Seven Day Sour from Trinity Brewing,” she said. “It blew my mind.”

It did even more than that. Portman soon discovered the world of craft beer and the many breweries that needed enthusiastic, experienced and educated staff. With a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology, she was interested in the science that goes into each glass.

That’s where Regis’ Certificate in Applied Craft Brewing came in.

“I had the science background, and Regis showed me how to apply it to brewing.”

Before she even completed the program, she was brewing beer professionally. Now the head brewer at Fiction Beer Company, she’s already earning medals at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

And on Sept. 28, she’s bringing her brewing talent back to Regis University for Iggy Beer Fest. Together with other alumni of her program, Portman is brewing a yet-unnamed New England-style triple IPA for us all to enjoy.

Come sample Portman’s new brew and others from breweries across Colorado in the Regis Field House from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. General admission tickets include unlimited samples and a souvenir tasting cup. A special VIP option is available with exclusive scotch tasting. Food from local Denver eateries will be available for purchase. Anyone age 21-and-up is welcome. Register for Iggy Beer Fest here.
